A Highlander/Titanic crossover

Boy, this thing has been a long time coming. What you have here, friends, is one of the very first projects Michele and I wrote together... way back in January 1998. This story has taken so long because it didn't just spawn one story but several, the effect being we both have chunks of uncompleted stories on the hard drive for what became another of our universes. Hopefully, that's all about to change as I take what I have of our first story and tie it all together for your reading pleasure.
This work was a labor of love, for both of us. And though time and other stories have come before it, this one has always remained at the back of our minds. It was that which finally prompted me to begin the posting of this. And re-reading over this has just reminded me of how much I enjoyed this--not just the movie, but of writing for these characters, and most of all, for writing with Michele--the best writing partner anyone could ever ask for.
So with that in mind, I'm doing something a bit out of the norm for me here. We both wrote on this story but as Michele as turned the posting of it over to me, I'd like to dedicate this story to her. It's been a long road, Chele, and hopefully a longer one still ^_-.
With all this said, here are a few things to know that might help you. This first story was inspired by James Cameron's Titanic and incorporates some facts about that movie in the story and universe. Therefore this first story begins in 1997, just a year before the movie's events.
