8.10.00 : "Amy Jo Johnson To Leave 'Felicity'?" LOS ANGELES (Zap2It.com) - Despite rumors circulating that "Felicity" writers have written Amy Jo Johnson off the show, "Felicity's" executive producer J.J. Abrams isn't so quick to throw in the towel. Soon after writers regrouped to work on the The WB series' upcoming third season, an inside source from the show leaked rumors that Julie Emrick, the character Johnson plays on the TV series, wouldn't be returning to the series for long.

"I can't cofirm or deny the rumor," Abrams said. "I can only say that we have a really good story involving Julie and that I don't want to give anything away."

Johnson's character was initially introduced when the show premiered in 1998 as a college student with a shaky past. In the past two seasons, we have seen her character date Ben (played by Scott Speedman), experience date rape, find her birth mother, find out her birth father needs her kidney to survive, pursue her music career and become the focus of a crush by Ben's roommate Sean (Greg Grunberg).

Although the fate of Johnson's character isn't officially established, fans are already expressing their displeasure about the thought of Johnson departing. One fan of the show, who heard about the rumor on a "Felicity" message board, has started his/her own Save Julie Campaign 2000 website.

Abrams seemed pleasantly surprised by the website, saying that he couldn't wait to show it to his writers.

Although Abrams couldn't divulge details on Julie's demise, he did hint that the Save Julie Campaign website could be jumping the gun.

"All I can say that this Web page might be for naught."

As for info on the upcoming fall season, Abrams said that the couples that appeared at the end of last season, including Felicity and Ben, will be around for a while.

"This year, Felicity and Ben are a couple, Sean and Meghan are a couple, we find out what Noel is going through -- Natalie is still in his life in a very funny and profound way," Abrams revealed. "So we have all these couples that are together, Eleana and Tracy are still together. What's really fun in dealing with the intricacies and problems with these couples...It's a much stronger way to start the year."
