~ Chapter Six: The Hunt ~

OK my little soldiers “GO!” As I watch all the men run and search they look everywhere. Smiling, I know if the missing people are still on this ship they will find them. Cause all these little men want to please me. Calling Wulfie to me, I ask if the Captain got rid of or did anyone that he can remember disappear during their trip. Shaking his head he says: No Goddess, not that I can remember. “ATTENTION EVERYONE!” My little soldiers did anyone disappear or was anyone gotten rid of by the Captain on your trip that any of you can remember? They all looked at me shaking their heads. No Goddess! Don’t remember of any disappearing or being thrown overboard or nothing like that Goddess. Calling Wulfie to the rail I tell all the little soldiers to do as Wulfie says while I am away. I’m going to check up on the ladies.

As I approach the Island I see all the little people crowded together, whispering among themselves. The Goddess seems nice as long as she isn’t crossed. But she can be mean, but I can’t blame her for that. That Captain man was going to shoot her. But with her being BIG like she is, it wouldn’t have hurt her really. But the idea of being shot is enough to make her angry with good reason. Hearing some of the children ask their mothers if I was going to hurt them, I heard their mothers tell them NO as long as they was good and listened to me. Seeing the sign of relief on their faces brought a smile to my face. Knowing I had people around me again, and that I was the Goddess to them all.

All this makes me wonder, if I can even be small around the people now. Or if staying BIG will keep them in line. And if they knew I could make myself BIG or small would they over power me when I was small? Shaking these thoughts out of my head.

Saying back to the hunt. I tread back in the water to the ship. As I watch the tiny men ramshackle the ship looking for the two missing people I smile, knowing they want to please me. Wanting to find the people as much as I do. Wondering what the surprise might be. As I speak telling them not to trash the place to bad, they calm down alittle. Remembering this is going to be there home for awhile if that is their desire. Or they can live on the Island. As the search continues I swim about the ocean, playing with the animals of the ocean. Looking back over my shoulder I see I have drawn a crowd. All the little men was watching me instead of hunting down the missing people. So after a few minutes of them watching I yell you guys can take a break now.

Watching as all the men jump into the ocean and swim to me. As they all swim around me, and start jumping on my back and arms I laugh. Watching the tiny men was fun to watch, and it makes me happy knowing that they are happy being around me. As we play and swim around for hours the tiny men start swimming back to the boat, wanting to nap, and rest. Telling the guys to take a few hours break, I was heading back to shore to check on the ladies and get some food cooking. Swimming back to shore, I ask for volunteers to cook our meal for the night. A few stout women stood, and waved their hands.

Picking these women up into my hands I carry them to the ship, and tell them to do what they can. The men were sleeping and try to be quiet in the cooking. Deciding at dinner tonight I will set about making plans with the tiny people. And seeing who wants what and all. Find out who is married and who is single. Team them up and build our town. Thankful the ship has pots and pans, with utensils. So we can eat like civilized people. As the ladies cook, I have the other ladies and children fixing up a dinner place for us all to set and eat. Bringing big rocks to place them where the lady folk say to use for tables and so forth. As I notice I am needed a lot around here and that pleases me. As the ladies call dinnertime was all gather around and dig in. I let everyone else fix their plates. Knowing I am the biggest it is best I wait. I can always eat my fish if I have to. But the ladies out did themselves with this meal. They made meat loaf, mashed potatoes and corn, with biscuits; something I haven’t ate in a while, a long while. Sniffing the air, allowing the aroma to fill my nose, “Hmm!” Smells good. Seeing there is still plenty after everyone gets their plates full, I reach in and grab a plate. Filling it like a normal size person would. Bringing the plate to my nose I sniff, inhaling deeply. As I start eating I realize all eyes are on me. Smiling at these little people I say: I eat like you do little ones. Listening to the little people say: She isn’t a monster, she eats with her hands like we do. She isn’t cramming the food down her throat, like I thought she would be. She has manners, but being that size, we weren’t sure you was brought up in a civilized world. We are Sorry Goddess! Bowing their heads, they look down ashamed of their thoughts. After dinner the ladies all gather together and did the dishes in the creek that comes inland.

As the men were chatting about the events of the day, I interrupt them and say: My little soldiers, the hunt is still on, and will be till we find them. We will continue the hunt onshore. Sending a few back to ship to finish the search there. As the men decide who is searching where I gather up the men going back to the ship, and carry them there. Setting them down on board. Reminding them to search everywhere but not to tear the place apart doing so.

Returning to shore to get the little soldiers going in that search. I divide them into 4 search parties. 1.) To search the mountains. 2.) To search the caves and tunnels. 3.) To search the flat lands. 4.) To search all under ground marshes. Setting them all off I gather the women and children together. And sit them by a fire and have the mothers tell stories to the children so they can fall off to sleep. Telling them they will all sleep on land tonight. While the ship is being searched.

As I listen to the stories being told a smile plays across my face, remembering these stories myself. And realizing I am still young myself. I will be 20 this year. Sighing deeply.

Planning our tasks over the next couple of days in my head, I sit back and watch everything. Satisfied I have people around, even if I'm big and they are small tiny people. The loneliness is gone. I have things to plan. A town to build, a big family to take care of. Shaking head here, sheezh a lot of plans to look forward to. Running over some of the plans in my head, I didn’t hear the little man walk up with 2 men tied together, their wrists tied behind their backs. These are the runaways My Goddess. Looking at the 2 I ask: “Why didn’t you come out when I said this is your last chance?” One-steps forward, mumbling: Oh Goddess we were not on the ship then, we did not hear you say that! If we had we would have came out of hiding. Shaking my head here, saying: Well I have to find some kind of punishment for you running little men. I have to punish you. Needing all the little people around for this, I call in the loudest voice I can: “ATTENTION!!” I need all little people back to the dinner area pronto!

Waiting for all to return the 2 little men that ran, stand shaking, not knowing what will happen to them, wondering if the same thing that happened to the Captain might happen to them. Looking out among the little people, I ask if they are all here. Looking out over the Island, I don’t see others running to get here, so I assume they all are here and accounted for. Walking to the ship I gather the men there, and carry them back.

Now my little people, I have a question for you, this is your decision, what do you think these men’s punishment should be? I’m leaving it up to you my people. I’ll give you time to think it over, I’m going for a swim, when I return I expect an answer. Walking to the water edge, I walk into the ocean, wading out to the deep part, then diving under. As I swim about with the creatures of the water, my mind wonders back to the plans for the town. Things that need to be done, and all the people who needs homes. Maybe the little people will agree and have the punishment be helping us build the homes, just more sensuous work. Like maybe cutting down the trees, but why do that when I can knock them down, easier. But I do know we need all able bodies that can help to be there, so we don’t want to hurt them where they can’t help.

Returning from my swim, I walk to the group gathered and say: “Well, have you decided?” A little stout man stepped forward, saying yes Goddess we have. Not sure if you have been thinking about this with all that has happened, but we will need homes and a town to be started here. As a smile crosses me face, I say, yes little one I have been thinking the same thing. Continue I say: Well Goddess, we will be needing all able bodies we can get, to build homes and things. Shaking my head in agreement, he continues, and I think we should wait for the punishment of these two. Speaking clearly I ask: All in agreement raise your hands. All raised their hands. I said OK so be it. Looking at the two men, I say your lucky, little ones. I could have easily crushed you. But we need you like you need us. Let’s team together and build a great town. I hear cheers all around.
