uala Lumpur 98-XVI Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place from 10 to 20 September 1998, is shaping up to be the biggest sporting extravaganza ever hosted by Malaysia. Preparations are underway to make this Games, the first in Asia, the best ever Commonwealth Games.
Over 6000 competitors from 68 countries from six regions will converge in Kuala Lumpur, making this Games the largest ever in its 65 year history. By 1998, the world will see a completely different skyline - a modern Kuala Lumpur at dawn of the twenty-first century. The rapid growth of Kuala Lumpur is also matched by the vast innovations that are taking place in communications and technology. This Commonwealth Games is designed to be an enjoyable experience for both athletes and spectators from around the world.
