Introduction

sidikstaf.JPG (28926 bytes)SIDIK Foundation was founded on July 1994. Since then, it is operated and based in greater Jakarta. SIDIK is an acronym of Studi dan Informasi Dunia Islam Kontemporer (Information and Studies on the Contemporary Islamic World).

SIDIK Foundation focuses its work on the field of research and scientific study concerning the current issues of the Islamic world. The actual and relevent informations gathered from these researches and studies will be distributed among the Islamic community to promote awareness and commitment towards Islam and Islamic community all over the world. Such awareness and commitment are expected to give birth to Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah.

SIDIK Foundation is well aware that current revolutionary changes on technology, information system, political constellation, and economic ties following the end of the Cold War will greatly affect the live of human beings in many different ways. The world are getting smaller and communities are searching for new identity to unite. By the turn of the 21st century, Islamic community will become one-third of the world total population. Inspite of the large numbers, it has not played any significant role in the international matters.

Still, one of the most disturbing fact that presenting almost every Islamic community is that concerns over the well being Muslim brothers in other parts of the world are very weak, next to nothing. The exchange of information and greetings between Islamic community have long been paralized. Striving to elevate this unfortunate reality, a few committed young brothers of Muslim took the initiative to establish the SIDIK Foundation.



Our Mission

Firstly, to communicate the current informations between the Islamic community in Indonesia with its Muslim brothers anywhere around the world.

Secondly, to make conscious of the Muslims in Indonesia about the realities of its bigger community in the world.

Thirdly, to facilitate others on relating to current issues, matters, and facts which engulfs around Islamic community in Indonesia.



Our Task

First, to collect and document all aspects tied into the Islamic world on becoming The Center of Islamic World Documentation.

Second, to publish all documents, transliterations, analysis anda scientific studies of that matter on informing the whole Islamic community.

Third, to establish connections and arangements with other foundations and spokesperson within Indonesia and abroad.

Fourth, to conduct trainings, discussions, seminars anda workshops targeting the improvement of intellectual capacity, broaden the spectrum of knowledge, sharping the analysis, and also to give strength to the will of defending the right.

Fifth, to promote other form of business governed be the Syariah and bounded to the state regulations.

Organizing Structure

The structure of the SIDIK Foundation was designed to be flexible and incorporate the current strategy defined. It appointed an executive director, supported by five chiefs division, to conducts its daily activities:
1. Documentary anda files division
2. Training anda seminar division
3. Research and publication division
4. Public relation and cooperation division
5. Business and fund division



Our Publications

Since its first debut, a number of publications have been released by SIDIK Foundation, such as: Palestina Nasibmu Kini (The Fate of Palestine, 1994), Chechnya, Perlawanan Orang-orang yang Terlupakan (Chechnya, The Struggle of The Forgotten Nation, 1995), Rencana Zionis Melumpuhkan Shohwah Islamiyah (The Zionist Plan to Paralize The Islamic Rebirth, 1995), Kumpulan Cerpen Intifadhah (Short Stories on Intifada, 1995), and Tafsir Islam Atas Realitas (Islam Interprets, The Reality, 1996). All books writed in bahasa Indonesia (Indonesia language).

We expect to publish further writings which encompass a wider spectrum of knowledge-fields.



Our Journals

Since 1996, we published a monthly journal on Islamic world named "Jurnal SIDIK". This journal will not discuss the current issues of the Islamic world but it also brings a true accurate information. And in the same time, exactly in November 1996, we also published a weekly bulletin on Islamic world named "AKTUALITA". All journals writed in bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language). We believe and are willing to pioneer the truthfullness of news and information.



The Center of Islamic World Documentation

The SIDIK Foundation serves the community by renting video cassettes, photograpies, posters and other publications which depict the struggle of Muslim Community in every corner of the world, such as Palestine, Bosnia Herzegovina, Chechnya, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Moro, and others.

Our next step will be establishment of an Islamic comprehensive library designed to meet the growing needs to the community in every forms of information available.



Our Trainings

Paket Kajian Ilmu Sosial (Studies on Social Sciences Pakage) abbreviated "PAKIS" ia a training devised for college students and public-observers who take an interest on social science matters. The participants of this training are introduced the skill of analizing the people of a community in a structured and proven ways. Up to now, most of the participants came from The University of Indonesia, Jakarta and Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.

2. Diskusi Pakar (Professional Discussion) is a monthly discussion subject on current issues with a guest speaker who masters the related topics.

3. Pelatihan Jurnalistik (Journalistic Training) is a training develop for those people who concentrate on journalism and writings. We invite columnists, reporters, editors, writers and critics from daily news and magazine in the country.
