Balancing Your Personal and Professional Lives: A Personal Perspective

If you are like me, life is a constant juggling act between your professional and your family life. While I have always been aware of this, it has become more apparent during the last couple of weeks. It seems as though there just aren't enough hours in the day and that EVERYONE in my life needs something from me! As a result, I find myself in the position of UN-Productivity. The more I try to do, the less that gets done and the more frustrated I become.

Being in the state of UN-Productivity forced me to really look at my daily schedule and get organized. This past weekend I began to organize my life via a daily...weekly...and monthly schedule. I looked at all the obligations I had for both my business and my family. I looked at all the things I wanted to be able to do for my business, my family, and myself and I created a SCHEDULE!

Now, while I have only just begun to use this new schedule, I must say that I already feel more productive and less stressed about all the things that I have to do. Being able to write my tasks down and know how my day will be organized has left me feeling that not only do I have time to devote to my business and my family needs, but there is also time for ME. This in itself is a great motivation. In addition, I also realize that even the best of schedules can get off and things that were set won't happen, interruptions and changes will come up. However, the schedule, for me, provide a guide and backbone for my busy life.

So, to all my readers I offer this plan. If you are feeling overwhelmed...stressed...or unproductive, sit down and create a schedule for yourself. See if it doesn't help to bring balance in your life.
