Josie's Page
![]() Jolissa is our baby for now. Pretty soon there will be a new baby around. We are not quite sure how Jo will handle it. She is at the point right now where she is debating weather she wants to be the baby, or if she wants to be a big girl. Sometimes she tells us "I'm not a baby anymore!" and then sometimes she tells us "I'm the baby!". So we will have to wait and see what happens come July. Josie is our little comedian. She lives to make people laugh. And if we are laughing, she has to laugh also, even if she doesn't get the joke. Sometimes she looks up at us while laughing and says "Isn't that so funny?" That, of course, makes us laugh even more. Jo is a little sunshine baby, she makes us happy just like sunshine does. Her name means "God will increase great happiness" and it suits so well. When God gave us Jolissa, He increased our happiness. Jo-Jo is two years and four months old at the time of this update. She is growing in size, but it seems like she is mostly growing up in her actions. I love the little girl that she is becoming, but as the baby fades away, I miss the baby she used to be. I know that someday she will not be saying "I'm the baby!" anymore, and she will be content to be a little girl. I both welcome and dread that day. Of course, Jolissa wants to do just what her sisters do, and this makes homeschooling a little difficult. I try to teach her a little everyday to keep peace. I have word and picture flash cards I used to help teach Marcie how to read, and I use the picture sides for Jo. She thinks it is great fun. I am also teaching her colors and counting. She knows her ABC song very well! Probably because she absolutely loves to sing. She knows a ton of songs, Jesus Loves Me, Fishers of Men, Jesus Loves the Little Children, This Old Man, The Ants Go Marching, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Father Abraham, Oh, How I Love Jesus, and many, many more. If you ask her what her favorite song is, or if you ask her what she wants to sing, she always says "Bible tells me so!" which is what she calls Jesus Loves Me. Josie likes to watch T.V., but she soon gets bored and goes off to play. She does like to watch Sesame Street and Veggie Tales (she is a big Elmo fan). She also, of course, likes to play Barbies with her big sisters. (Barbies is THE thing to play around here, especially after Christmas.) And she likes to play with her babies (dolls), and to play dress up. Josie is being potty trained right now. It is going okay. She loves the candy that she gets when she goes, a big reason why it is working as well as it is. She gets so tickled when she goes in the potty, because she knows what comes next. One of the ladies at our church on Wednesday night asked Jo "What did you do today?" and Josie proudly answered. "I go pee pee in the potty, and I get a candy!" Too cute! Josie says that she is excited about the new baby coming, and she does seem to like the idea. Of course, she really knows nothing about what is going to happen. I worry about it sometimes, but I know that worrying won't help anything. I am trying as best I can to prepare her, but is any kid really prepared for a new baby? Jolissa does like to put her head on my stomach and talk to the baby. It is so darling! The other day she was talking to the baby and said "Come out and play, baby. We have a Barbie House, come out and play with us." Josie says that if the baby is a girl we should name it Ashley, and if it is a boy we should name it Ashley. Bet you can't guess what her favorite name is! All her dolls are named Ashley, and all her stuffed animals, too. With the exception of Lamb and Tiger (two of her special "I have to have this toy before I can go to sleep" toys), they are just Lamb and Tiger. Well, that it is for Josie's page. Come back soon to see pictures of Jo and some of her art work.
