How to Become a Christian1. Believe. Believe in God, believe that God created the heavens, the earth, and everything. Believe that Jesus is God's only son. Believe that God sent Jesus to the earth to save all mankind. Believe that Jesus Christ was crucified to save you from your sins. If you have a hard time believing this, maybe you should spend some time reading the Bible. 2. Accept and confess. Accept the gift of salvation that can only come from Jesus Christ. This is so simple, all you have to do is say "Jesus, I believe that You died for me, and I accept Your gift of salvation. Jesus, You are Lord! I accept You as my Lord and Savior." After you take those steps, you will be saved. It is so simple. After you are saved, there is one more step you need to take. 3. Repent of your sins. Too many people think that step #3 is supposed to come first. It isn't. You don't have to be good to become a Christian. You don't have to quit smoking before you become a Christian. You don't have to quit swearing, or drinking, or taking drugs. In short, you don't have to clean up your life before you come to Christ. Those things come after you become a Christian. In the Bible it says "At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. (Titus chapter 3, verses 3 to 7) It doesn't say, When we stopped being foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved, when we stopped living in malice and envy, when we stopped hating each other, THEN he saved us. No, God saved us because of his mercy. We do not have to clean up our lives before we become a christian. It says again in the Bible "Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans chapter 5, verses 7 and 8) You see, Christ died for all mankind, WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS. If you have sin in your life, and that is keeping you from accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord, don't wait another minute! He died for you a long time ago, now He is just waiting for you to come to Him. You don't have to try to get rid of your sin first. He knows you are a sinner, AND HE DOESN"T CARE! He loves you and wants to save you. Another Bible verse, in John, that is Jesus' own words "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John chapter 3, verses 16 and 17) God didn't send Jesus to the earth to condemn you, and to tell you that you have to be a good person before he will save you. Jesus doesn't say "You're not good enough for me, go get rid of your problems and then I will save you." No! He loves you and wants to save you right now. He loves you as you are, right now, no matter what you have done. Jesus Christ is waiting for you, just accept Him. After you do, He will help you get rid of the sin.
