Alonza Bevan or Shep as we call him was born in 24th October 1970 somewhere in western London. His parents come from Wales and stories tell that he thanks God for his Welsh roots every single morning...

Shep met Crispian Mills in Richmond College where they both studied, and joined a band called "Objects of Desire". They ran a psychedelic nightclub "The Mantra Shack" near skating rink in Richmond. Alonza: "The success of Kula Shaker happened quickly, but before that I spent couple of years in different kind of bands. We played in all sort of dilapilated nightclubs in London... Those were pretty crazy years, that was the time of apprenticeship. But even if you played in bad bands, at least you learned to play. We lived in kinda obscure places and to top it all my girlfriend left me - she probably heard our demos..."

Marital status: Shep hasn't got married YET, but is dating with a woman called Tessa.
