Pokémon Outbreak
"You know what? I think I need a vacation! I haven’t had a vacation in a while," said Brock.
"I guess you deserve a vacation by now, I guess you can go," said Ash, his sights set on a Rattata in a field.
"Great! See you around! In a couple weeks, come to Maiden’s Peak, I’ll be there," said Brock, running off.
"Pikachu! Weaken that Rattata, and I’ll try to capture it!" Ash yelled to Pikachu.
"PIKACHU!" Pikachu yelled, but before he could attack, the Rattata bit Pikachu. Pikachu fell to the ground, and couldn’t get up.
"What’s wrong with Pikachu? Why won’t he get up?" Ash asked Misty.
"Rattata that live here are super-strong, lets leave and get Pikachu to a Pokémon center." Misty replied.
"Okay, Pikachu is out like a light-bulb, I will get him into a Pokéball."
Ash threw a Pokéball at Pikachu, and Pikachu, to weak to stop it, entered the Pokéball.
Ash and Misty ran to Mainen City’s Pokémon center. It was a big, round, and blue building. To their surprise, when they entered they saw at least 30 trainers crowding Nurse Joy.
"I don’t know what happened to your Pokémon! Last night. The only possibility is that someone stole them, and since I locked all the doors last night, you can’t blame this on me!" Nurse Joy said, pleading with the trainers to stop blaming
her.
Ash still heard many "I want my Pokémon back!" and "What did you do with them!" and "We trusted you with them!" from the crowd, even after Nurse Joy explained what happened.
"Hey! Leave her alone, she told you it wasn’t her fault, why won’t you believe her?" Ash asked the trainers.
"All right people, leave Nurse Joy alone, she isn’t responsible for this. Come on people, leave the Pokémon center!" Officer Jenny said as she entered the building. "Young boy, young girl, I thought I told you to leave and stop bothering
her."
"We weren’t bothering her. Ash here has a Pikachu that was poisoned. Can you help it?" Misty asked.
"Oh, the same as the others. The Rattata here are super-strong, and have some weird abilities. We believe after poisoned Pokémon are brought here, a thief somehow breaks in here and steals him. We think that they have the antidote
too." Officer Jenny said, worried. "Joy has tried to cure these Pokémon, but we think the poison is fatal. Unless we can find the antidote. But we would have to find the thief first."
"Chansey! Chansey. Chansey, chansey chansey." Nurse Joy’s Chansey said.
"What? You say that you saw someone come in and steal the Pokémon?" Nurse Joy asked. Chansey shook his head and started walking like a zombie. The group laughed, and then got back to their conversation.
"Have you studied a Rattata? What kind of poison does it have?" Misty asked.
"Well, the poison it has is only made in a lab a little ways from here. They have always helped our trainers, they wouldn’t have done it." Nurse Joy replied, and looked over at Officer Jenny.
"I don’t know, maybe we can ask them some questions, and find a cure." Jenny said, which was just what Misty was about to say.
"Lets go!" Ash said.
Everyone ran out of the Pokémon center, and Jenny gave directions.
"Misty, you can drive a bike, right? Good. You and Joy ride that bike over there. Put your Chansey in the Pokéball and bring him too. Ash, you can ride on my bike with me. Come on!" Jenny said, and got on her bike.
Jenny and Misty drove their bikes for a while, until they got to a big building. They got off their bikes. And Nurse Joy let her Chansey out of the Pokéball.
"Chansey!" Chansey said and let out a sigh of relief, because Chansey hated being in a Pokéball.
They walked into the lab and saw a service counter. They rang a bell until a gray haired man appeared. He looked a little strange, but they would need his help to get the antidote and find those lost Pokémon.
"Hello! Can I help you?" The man said.
"We need all the info on the poison in our city’s Rattata. Can you tell us about it? Since you can make it, do you know about an antidote?" Jenny asked.
"I wouldn’t know, but go to floor 3, second door on the right. Ask the people in there, they know more about it." The man answered.
Misty, Ash, Chansey, Nurse Joy, and Officer Jenny got on the elevator and clicked the button that had a big red 3 on it. The elevator slowly raised, and stopped. The doors opened. But, to their surprise there was no doorway, only the wall
of the elevator shaft.
"Bulbasaur! Go up there and try to pull the elevator up with your vines!" Ash threw a Pokéball all the way up to the doorway, and it opened and Bulbasaur jumped out.
"Bulbasaur!' Bulbasaur said.
He threw out his vines and grabbed the elevator. He tried pulling it, but it was too heavy.
"Brace your self against something, and one by one, pull us up" Ash said. "Nurse Joy, walk out the door, until Bulbasaur can see you. Bulbasaur, when you see her, pull her up with your vines."
They did this one by one until Ash was left, and then the elevator started falling.
"Quick! Bulbasaur! Grab me!"
Bulbasaur tried, but his vines were to short. Ash jumped out the door, and grabbed the ladder on the wall. He climbed up to the doorway of floor 3, and heard the smash of the elevator smashing the ground.
"I don't think that was an accident. Let’s go! Here’s the second door on the right! Let’s go in." Officer Jenny said.
When they went in, they saw three scientists, one male, one female, and one extremely short one who scurried away.
"Can we help you?" The two scientists asked.
"You look familiar. Have I seen you before?" Ash asked, studying the two figures in long white lab garments.
"I don’t think so. We have lived in Mainen City all our lives." They explained.
But then the lights disappeared and the door slammed shut. And the group could hear the electronic locks moving into place.
"Charmander! Give us some light!" Ash threw a Pokéball and Charmander’s tail lit up the room, in time to see Meowth jump out at Ash.
Ash dodged the attack, but a couple of things from his backpack fell out.
"I knew you looked familiar! That’s Meowth! You must be..." Ash and Misty started.
"Ha ha ha. We had you fooled! You will not escape. You were lucky to get out of the elevator, but don’t think you will escape this time." The male scientist said.
The two scientists threw their lab garments off, revealing their uniforms both with a big red "R" on it.
"To protect the world from devastation..." Jesse started.
"To unite all peoples within out nation..." James said, back to back with Jesse.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love..." Jesse continued.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!" James said, and smiled at the group of heroes.
"Jesse!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts of at the speed of light!" Jesse yelled.
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!" James said, and he and Jesse got into their Team Rocket pose.
"MEOWTH! That’s right!" Said the ever annoying, but smartest member of the Team Rocket group, as he jumped down.
"Oh! They must be the ones who have been stealing the Pokémon! Starmie, go!" Misty said.
"We don’t know what you mean, but we don’t want your stupid city’s weak Pokémon, the only thing we want right now is Pikachu. But since he isn’t here, we will settle for beating you. Ekans! Go!" Jesse said and threw her Pokéball.
"Ekans!" Ekans said.
"Koffing! Go!" James said and threw his Pokéball.
"Koffing!" Koffing said, and floated next to Ekans.
"You may think you can beat us! But you know you can’t, Bulbasaur, go!" Ash said.
"Bulb-bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur said, ready for battle.
"Starmie, water gun!" Misty said, and then Starmie used water gun on Koffing, and he fell, then got back up. Starmie started glowing and pulsing, and to the surprise of everyone, Starmie used a super water gun on Koffing, and he
smashed into the wall.
Ekans jumped out at Starmie and wrapped around it. Unable to break free at the moment, because it was still weak from the super water gun is used, Ekans easily broke free.
"Bulbasaur, get Ekans off Starmie" Ash commanded, but before he had the chance, Starmie built up energy, started spinning, and broke free.
"Hmmm... Charmander is strong against Ekans. Charmander, go!" Ash commanded.
"Charmander!" Charmander yelled and breathed fire at Ekans, scorching it.
"Good. Now come with us you three." Nurse Joy said. After arresting them, she put Ekans and Koffing in their Pokéballs.
Ash picked up his stuff, and returned Bulbasaur to his Pokéball, letting Charmander light the way. Apparently, Meowth left the whole building in darkness.
Back at Jenny’s jail, they asked Team Rocket all the questions they could think of, but they didn’t find much out.
"We didn’t steal any Pokémon. Look at our Meowth! He is starting to feel the effects of the poison himself. He was strong against it for a while, but now he’s in real bad shape. Why would we let our own Pokémon get poisoned?" Jesse
asked.
Just then, Joy and Misty walked in, coming back from the Pokémon center. Misty’s Starmie was poisoned by Ekans weaker and non-fatal Pokémon, and Nurse Joy was healing it.
"Why should we believe you? Team Rocket is always out to steal more Pokémon!" Misty yelled.
"You should believe us, because we have the antidote. If you let us out, we will let you have the antidote too." James said to Misty.
"Jenny, this could be a trick, we can’t be too sure about Team Rocket." Ash said.
"I know, but we have no choice. We aren’t getting anywhere in our investigation, and if we don’t have get the antidote, Pikachu will die. And we will have no chance to find those lost Pokémon." Jenny said. "You guys can come out, but until
the antidote works, you will stay in the handcuffs."
Jenny opened the jail cell, and everyone expected them to run away, but they didn’t.
"The antidote is in my pocket. We were about to use it on Meowth, but you interrupted us." Jesse said.
Ash got the antidote, and everyone ran to the Pokémon center.
"Where is Pikachu? I looked in the emergency room, where he was before, but he’s gone!" Ash yelled, trying to hold back tears.
"I told you it wasn’t us. If we were in the lab, then in the jail, we couldn’t have taken it." Jesse said.
They’re right. Maybe the Pokémon were sleep walking. Since they were poisoned, maybe they has illusions. That must have been what Chansey was trying to tell us. We need to release this into the air, so all the Pokémon can inhale it
and become well again. But we don’t have enough of it to do that." Nurse Joy said.
"What if we put it in the water instead? Pokémon drink water. Even if they are sleep walking, they need water to survive." Misty said.
"I’ll bring this to the water plant, they’ll be able to do that. They can put it in the underground supply, all the water in the city is connected to that water. And when the Rattata drink it, they should go back to normal too." Jenny said. Ash gave
her the bottle of antidote, and she sped of to the water plant on her bike.
"We’re sorry about the mix-up Nurse Joy," the trainers said, apologizing to Nurse Joy.
"It’s okay, I’m happy you all got your Pokémon back!" Nurse Joy said.
"We are very sorry about the Rattata problem. We were doing some experiments, and they went wrong. They should soon return to normal," said a scientist from a lab. This time a real scientist.
"Well, we better get going. Bye Nurse Joy!" Misty said.
"Bye Nurse Joy! Thanks for your help." Ash said.
"Pika-pikachu!" Pikachu said, healthy as ever, and gave a little wave.
And so, Ash is off to get another badge. But first, they will have to tear Brock from the beach, witch will be a harder task then earning badges!
