Using Endos to Go Forward

Skill: Using Endos to Go Forward.

Situation: Various trials sections. Excellent for flat pedals. Used to get up onto a higher structure from a position where the front wheel is on the structure and the rear wheel is below. Particularly useful with a little forward momentum.

Learning Environment: Two stacks of palettes, the one four palette higher than the other. Stacks separated by about 60cm.

Exercise: Get so that the front wheel is on the high stack and the rear wheel on the low one. Then lock the front brake and rotate your weight forward and up as much as possible. The bike will endo and you need to get the rear wheel higher than the front. When it gets to its highest point. Let off the front brake and push you weight forward. The bike will roll forward on the front wheel and come to rest with both wheels on the upper stack. This is easier with speed. If you pedal kick from the lower stack to get the front wheel up, instead of stopping, go immediately into your endo. This takes less energy than hopping and results in much greater flow.

Objective: Be able to do the move described from a static start.
