William Layton Ellsworth Strong, son of Silas and Hannah Kirk (Russell)Strong, was born April 10, 1864 in Cardington, Morrow County, Ohio. He moved with his family to Kansas and, along with his brothers Charles and Edward, helped his father build the Puckerville School in Riley County, Kansas. In 1891, he again moved with his family to Lewiston, Idaho where he lived until his death in 1934. William never married.
