Thomson Tutoring began in the summer of 2003. While working as an elementary and secondary level substitute teacher and Special Education Instructional Assistant, Rod Thomson observed some students were experiencing academic difficulty and were severly in need of one-on-one attention. While teachers definitely try hard to ensure all students have a reasonable opportunity to be successful, the increasing population coupled with governmental and societal demands made that task more difficult. As a result, students needing one-on-one academic support were being given less attention because the teachers simply did not have the time to help them. Therefore, a niche' was created for Thomson Tutoring. Our goal is to provide tutorial services to elementary, secondary, collegiate, and adult education students in the Treasure Valley and help those students experience academic success. For some, such assistance could mean the difference between graduating or not. We want each student to graduate and earn their high school diploma, college degree, or certificate and will do everything we can do to help them accomplish that goal.

Thomson Tutoring received the City of Caldwell Home Occupation Certificate on November 5, 2003. To date, the business has helped one elementary student experience academic success and has recently been hired by a local assisted living facility to provide a history course for seniors twice each month.

Rod Thomson possesses degrees in Political Science (Boise State University, 1995) and History ( Northwest Nazarene University, 2000). I am currently working on my secondary level teaching certification at Boise State University. I hope to be teaching Government, History, Political Science, and Current Events within the next year or so.
