A Santa Fe consist like this is getting increasingly rare. I purposely edged out a BNSF DASH 9 that was trailing.
This is the returning Irvine La Mirada Local. Caboose 999795 was on the rear.
Right after the Irvine La Mirada rolled through, the Fullerton La Mirada showed up with a rather unusual consist. They actually back up all the way from La Mirada, so the caboose, 999716, was leading and the engines were sandwiched in the middle. It stopped for about 20 minutes in the station as several trains ran around it. I later chased this train to the location where it completed its switching duties. While the local was sitting in the station, an eastbound roared though with a Warbonnet on the point, providing the rare opportunity to photograph a genuine Santa Fe locomotive passing an operating Santa Fe caboose.
