One expected release in the first quarter of 2002 is the sophmore album from Texan rapper Devin The Dude who will drop the album in January.  "Just Tryin To Live" has been almost 2 years in the making, and many people have woken up to Devin's music after hearing his calm and collected voice on the song, "Fuck You" from "Dr. Dre 2001."  It was there, that Devin was recognized by a whole new group of hip-hop fans as he came in with grace laying down one of the baddest hooks of the year.
This new album is filled with more cool, soulful and raunchy grooves that feature some top-notch production in Dr. Dre and DJ Premer.  In the early stages of the album, Mel-Man had a big part in helping put together this album on the production side, producing a majority of the album.  That may not be the case now, but expect to hear Mel-Man, (who brought Devin to the attention of Dre) along with Dr. Dre to have a few of their beats on this album.
This will be a very fresh CD, Devin is very funny and entertaining upon the mic and I think people will really like this album.  So far, "Just Tryin To Live" has gotten very good reviews; XXL magazine gave this an XL, the second best rating an album can get.  We have been waiting along time, since August of 2001, it's been delayed a few times already, hopefully, the date will now stick for January.
