The BIG plan For the OLD JD

Just installed a rebuilt Kioritz 340cc engine. Runs like a dream. I put the sled back togeather and lubed everything up. After tons of work and less than $200.00, this sled is snow worthy, almost. Just need a few more things like a steering spindle and then it is complete!

Before It was Mine

When i got this sled the ski's and track were frozen under 2 inches of mud. On top of that, was 5 feet of snow. After 4 hours of digging, torching, and beating, it was free. I found this sled behind a house, in between two houses. I picked it up for 60 bucks. I was not even good enough to be put on a tralor to get home. It was pulled from the ass via an old beat up truck and a rusty chain.

Engine Inspection

When I bought this sled the owner said the engine was good, the body was bad. Well i couln't agree more with the body part. There were holes in the tunnel, and the belley pan looked like it was home made from all of the dents and bending. The hood was cracked in 5 major spots. The seat looked like it was eaten by a possiable hungry dog. And the engine compartment looked like it was a cozy home for a squirrel at one point. Well whent I took off the head, i just about fainted. Big ole chunks taken out of the pistons. Many a holes in the heads. DEEP scratches in the jugs. Just a shity engine. That is all i have to say about that.

Engine Inspection

This was a hard thing. I first practically blew off the hood. And took out the guts. And 4 or 5 buckets of dirt, 10 sparkplugs, 3 empty oil quarts,2.5 belts and plenty of old walnuts later it was somewhat ready for hosing off. After that, well, It is now ready for some serious dent removing and then priming followed by some exotic color of paint.

It's Alive!

It is running and almost ready for snow! Here are a bunch of pics of the sled after tons of work. Enjoy

Here it was when I got it

Here it is now, with the engine installed and all put togeather
