Ford Police Interceptor - Metro-STAR Tactical Unit, Slicktop Metro-STAR (Special Tactics and Response) is the joint Des Moines Police (400 officers) and Polk County Sheriff's Office (200 deputies) merger of tactical teams.  Officers assigned to the jointly-managed unit drive squad cars that state "Metro Tactical Unit" and enjoy county-wide jurisdiction.  They are also developing a Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction response capability.
