Chapter Eighteen

By the time they reached their hotel, Megan was very annoyed with herself for not being able to come up with a way to get back at Nick and Brian. It had to be good, vicious...downright mean. She knew they’d be expecting something, so she figured she’d give them a few days to sweat. Hopefully an idea would come to her.

“Hey, we’re here,” AJ said, nudging her.

“We are?” She turned around on the couch and peered out the windows. “Holy cow! Those are all fans?!”

She stared, openmouthed at the crowd of people standing outside the back entrance of the hotel. Some held banners or signs, and nearly all of them had a camera and were screaming. Howie pushed open one of the tinted windows and waved, causing them all to scream louder.

Brad parked the bus as close to the back door as he could and then radioed for Denise in the band bus. She gave him instructions to relay to the Boys.

“Okay, folks,” he said loudly, clapping his hands. “Here’s how we play it. Boys off first, then I’ll go around and drop the girls off in front.”

“Why?” Megan asked.

“It’s safer for you. Fans have weird reactions to the girlfriends,” Brian said. “We don’t want you to get hurt.”

“But you’ll each have a bodyguard with you, just in case,” Brad added.

The guys left the bus, taking their stuff and the girls’ with them. Then Brad pulled away. Megan and Dana watched as the guys signed autographs and posed for pictures.

“Denise will be waiting for you two at the front desk,” their driver called to them. A minute later, he stopped the bus at a nearly deserted front entrance and opened the door. “Have fun, girls!”

They could still hear the screaming from the back of the hotel as they walked towards the lobby. Brett and Jack, their assigned bodyguards for the tour, were waiting for them just outside the revolving doors.

“Is it always crazy like this?” Dana wondered softly.

Jack nodded. “Always.”

Denise waved them over to where she stood by the elevators. “Here are your room keys. I assumed you’d want to be with your men, so Dana, you’re sharing with Kevin, and Megan, you’re sharing with AJ. Megan, are you okay?”

Megan was blushing furiously. “I’m...fine,” she said. “It’s just...I never...” She laughed nervously.

“Never had your boyfriend’s mother nearby?” Denise guessed. “It’s okay. AJ and I have always had a very special relationship. What he does is his business. I don’t ask, and he sure as hell doesn’t tell!”

She gave them their room keys and instructed Jack and Brett to see them up safely. Then they went back downstairs to see to other bodyguard business.

“Damn, this is incredible,” Dana said, unlocking her door. “Wanna come in and keep me company for awhile?”

“Sure thing.”

Dana flipped on the lights and both of them gasped loudly. The room was huge and lavishly decorated.

“Welcome to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous!” Megan declared, flopping down on the lush sofa. “You know what?”

“What?”

“It has just hit me, at this very moment, that the guys are really famous. Not just, well-known, but *extremely* well-known. It’s like some dream.”

“I know,” Dana said, walking around the living room. She poked her head into the bathroom and yelled for Megan to come look.

“Is that a tub or a pool?” was Megan’s response.

“I don’t know.”

“I hope there’s one in my room!”

They heard the door open and scurried out to see who it was.

“Oh, it’s just you,” Megan said, waving her hand in the air as Kevin stepped inside.

He half smiled at her and dropped his and Dana’s luggage on the floor. “AJ’s in your room,” he told her.

“Goodie!”

She scooted through the open door, brushing against Kevin’s arm on her way out. A real live spark popped between them.

“Ahhh! Shock!” she cried, jumping into the hall.

Kevin rubbed his arm and grimaced. “Ouch. Well, the guys are hungry. We’re going out for a nice dinner, wanna join us?”

“Sure! I could go for a real meal.”

“Okay. We’re all meeting by the elevators in an hour.”

“Sounds good.” Megan grinned evily, shuffling her feet on the carpet.

Kevin yelped and tried to back away as she touched his arm again, this time making a more painful shock. He ended up stumbling over the luggage and landing on his rear.

Megan disappeared down the hall, cackling all the way.
