In Danaan Parry's book, "The Earthsteward's Handbook," he addresses the importance of "right livelihood." How many of us are living out our "right" livelihood? Are we employed just for the sake of income (job), or for security (permanent job), or as a profession (social status), as our livelihood (self-esteem), or as right livelihood (self-fulfillment)?

Are we willing to take the risk and step into that "fear of the unknown" to pursue our right livelihood? What could happen if we do? It would provide benefits to others. It would provide our needs. It would give us a sense of value to society. It would provide a depth of experience to use as a measure toward other situations. It would increase our skills and talents. It would offer true satisfaction. It would be a way of offering expression to our values.

We can take strides toward right livelihood, maybe one small step at a time, but at least, we will be taking steps in the right direction. Acknowledging our desires and then progressing toward them offers enrichment in our now.

Where Stillness Lies

A work of art described
as pleasant

the experience of joy

We are fast approaching Autumn! School will start and people will be home from vacations. I enjoy this season as long as I stay in my NOW and don't ponder the next season! (We live in Iowa where snow and ice are nice in their place but not on the highway when driving to and from work!)

I am looking forward to the increase in email messages from each of you, once we get settled in and started with a satisfying new season routine!

'Tis a beautiful time for dreaming and thinking - no time like the present. If you want every moment to hold joy, the time to begin is now and continue beginning with every moment as it comes into existence.

What does joy mean to you? Hold that thought. Bring it into consciousness often. Speak it. Write it. Read it. Keep it at the forefront until it becomes a natural part of your everyday existence.

Joy means different things to different people so you have to do your own homework to discover what it is for you.

Write a list of positive traits. "I am...." Concentrate on one today. Tomorrow you may choose a different one but take no tho't for the 'morrow. Just find your happiness for today. Live in it. Let it absorb your entire being. Be on fire with the desire.

You'll discover something new and wonderful taking place within and around you. Enjoy!
