My youngest brother, Chef Neal-Bob, created this recipe by "accident" when he begged me to help bake cookies for a school event. These became the hit of the evening and people begged him for the recipe. It's actually two cookie recipes mixed together. Heaven help those who attempt this major "Julia Child" undertaking.
Cream margarine and sugar, beat in eggs, stir in sauerkraut and vanilla. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda and salt. Gradually add to mixture. Drop by spoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Do not over bake. Remove at once to cool.
In large (and I mean really large) pan, mix all ingredients in order given. Drop on greased cookie sheets by large tablespoon. Flatten slightly. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees. These freeze well.
(Warning--Fight the urge to make one extremely large cookie; it doesn't work!!!)
After Julia Child takes several "hits" off the old cooking sherry (hehe), this is the inspiration for the following "Chef Neal-Bob" Creation!!! These cookies WILL not be found in your finer bakeries anywhere!! Ripley's Believe It Or Not--These cookies are really pretty good eatin'.
To make a "healthy" cookie--mix 2 parts Sauerkraut Cookie to 1 part Monster cookie doughs. To make a "use-your-imagination" cookie--mix 1 part Sauerkraut cookie with 2 parts Monster cookie doughs. Bake as for Monster cookies as above. Use your nose to tell for absolute doneness. Don't be shocked at what these will look like when taken from the oven. To quote Chef Neal-Bob..."The aroma of these fine cookies is undescribable!!"
Send an email with your results of these fine cookies with the subject marked Chef Neal-Bob and I will forward your comments to him. If you wish to obtain more of Chef Neal-Bob's great "cooking fiascos" let us know and we'll post more here. Happy Baking!!
As you can probably tell, Chef Neal-Bob helped create this page. Thanks a bunch little bro if I don't get any hits on this page!!!
