VARIOUS ASSESSMENT PLAN STATEMENTS

 

Cosmetology Assessment Plan Statement # 1

 

Intended Outcome # 1.  Cosmetology students will exhibit an understanding of the proper use of chemicals in the field of cosmetology.

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  COS120 students will complete a series of examinations, in which questions related to the use of chemicals in cosmetology have been embedded.  Faculty will evaluate students’ answers to the embedded questions. 

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  At least 80 percent of students will answer each embedded question correctly on selected examinations.

 

 

Cosmetology Assessment Plan Statement # 2

 

Intended Outcome # 2.  Cosmetology students will demonstrate the proper use of various chemicals to color and/or lighten hair.

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  Students taking COS121 will complete the practical applications prescribed for the course.  Faculty will evaluate students’ work on selected assignments using an assessment rubric developed by the program assessment committee.

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  The average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or higher on a 4-point scale.

 

 

Engineering Assessment Plan Statement

 

Intended Outcomes.  Undergraduate engineering students will use basic survey techniques, handwriting skills, mathematic calculations, and teamwork to complete group survey projects to a high degree of accuracy.*

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  CE211 students will complete a series of survey projects in which they must demonstrate the abilities/skills noted in the intended outcomes statement.  Faculty will evaluate the projects using an assessment rubric developed by the program assessment committee.

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  The average rating of student achievement in each performance area for each ability/skill will be 3 or higher on a scale or 1-4.

 

*This should actually be four intended outcomes statements.

 

 

Dental Hygiene Assessment Plan Statement # 1

 

Intended Outcome # 1.  Dental hygiene students will exhibit an understanding of the fundamental concepts of dental radiology.

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  Students taking DH102 will complete a series of examinations, in which questions related to dental radiology have been embedded.  Faculty will evaluate students’ answers to the embedded questions.

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  At least 80 percent of students will answer each embedded question correctly on selected examinations.

 

 

Dental Hygiene Assessment Plan Statement # 2

 

Intended Outcome # 2.  Dental Hygiene students will display practical knowledge of the appropriate safety measures for exposing and processing dental x-rays.

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  Students taking DH102 will complete a series of examinations, in which questions related to safety measures have been embedded.  Faculty will evaluate students’ answers to the embedded questions.

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  At least 80 percent of students will answer each embedded question correctly on selected examinations.

 

 

Dental Hygiene Assessment Plan Statement # 3

 

Intended Outcome # 3.  Dental hygiene students will demonstrate the proper procedures and applications for exposing, processing, mounting and interpreting dental x-rays.

 

Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Courses/Activities.  Students taking DH103 will complete the practical applications prescribed for the course.  Faculty will evaluate students’ work on selected assignments using an assessment rubric developed by the program assessment committee.

 

Assessment Criteria/Expected Results.  The average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or higher on a 4-point scale.
