PLAN STATEMENTS
Career Services
Assessment Plan Statement # 1
Intended Outcome # 1 (Services). Career Services staff will assist
students with resume development skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will maintain a list of students using the center to
develop resumes.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
25 percent of juniors and seniors will use Career Services for this purpose in
2007-08.
Career Services

Intended Outcome # 2 (Services). Career Services staff will assist students with oral presentation/interview
skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will maintain a list of students using the center to
prepare for job interviews.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
25 percent of juniors and seniors will use Career Services for this purpose in
2007-08.
Career Services
Assessment Plan Statement # 3
Intended Outcome # 3 (Satisfaction with Services). Students will report a high level of satisfaction with the
assistance received from Career Services with resume development and/or oral
presentation/interview skills.
Assessment Measures,
Techniques, and Target Activities. Students will complete a spring satisfaction survey, which
contains several items related to services provided by Career Services. Institutional Research staff will evaluate
students’ responses to the items.
Assessment Criteria/Expected
Results.
At least 90 percent of survey respondents, who received assistance from
Career Services with resume development and/or oral presentation/interview
skills, will report a high level of satisfaction with the assistance.

Intended Outcome # 4 (Student
Learning). Students
utilizing Career Services will demonstrate competency
in resume development skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Students will develop resumes during the junior or senior
year. Staff will use an assessment
rubric selected by the program assessment committee to evaluate students’
resume development skills.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or
higher on a scale of 1-4.
Career Services Assessment Plan Statement # 5: Intervention
Actions Resulting from Outcome # 4
Findings. Students will take resumes to the
Intended Outcome # 5 (Student Learning). After working with
Assessment Measures,
Techniques, and Target Activities. Students
will revise resumes. Staff will utilize
a rubric (same one used for assessment of original resumes) to measure student
performance on the revised documents.
Assessment Criteria/Expected
Results.
The average rating of student achievement in writing skill and grammar
will improve from 2.6 (on a 4.0 scale) on original resumes to 3.0 or higher on
the revised documents.
Career Services

Intended Outcome # 6 (Student
Learning). Students
utilizing Career Services will display practical
expertise in oral presentation/interview skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Students will participate in a mock job interview during
the junior or senior year. Staff will
use an assessment rubric selected by the program assessment committee to
evaluate students’ oral presentation/ interview skills.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or
higher on a scale of 1-4.
Disability
Services Assessment Plan Statement # 1
Intended
Outcome # 1 (Services). Staff from Disability Services will provide
assistance to students in the use of assistive technology to access computers
in various labs.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will maintain a list of students receiving the
assistance.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
75 percent of qualified students will use Disability Services for this purpose
in 2007-08.
Disability
Services Assessment Plan Statement # 2
Intended
Outcome # 2 (Student Learning). Qualified
students will display proficiency in the use of assistive technology to access
exams and other educational materials.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Students will formally demonstrate their ability to use assistive
technology in various computer labs at least three times during 2007-08. Disability Services staff will use an assessment rubric developed by the division
assessment committee to evaluate students’ proficiency in using assistive
technology.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or
higher on a scale of 1-4.
Disability
Services Assessment Plan Statement # 3
Intended Outcome # 3 (Satisfaction with Services). Students will
report that assistive technology was beneficial in their efforts to access
exams and other educational materials.

Techniques, and Target Activities. Students who utilize assistive technology in 2007-08 will

the use of the technology. Disability

Facilities
Services Assessment Plan Statement # 1
Intended Outcome # 1 (Unit
Effectiveness). Facilities
Services employees will complete requested maintenance in a timely manner.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will review department logs to determine time elapsed
between maintenance requests and job completion.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
90 percent of requested work will be completed on schedule.
Facilities
Services Assessment Plan Statement # 2
Intended Outcome # 2 (Satisfaction with Services). Students, faculty and other constituents will report a high
level of satisfaction with services provided by Facilities Services employees.
Assessment Measures,
Techniques, and Target Activities. Department staff will send a spring opinion/satisfaction
survey to individuals in areas utilizing maintenance services in 2007-08. Institutional Research will process completed
surveys and develop a report of survey findings.
Assessment Criteria/Expected
Results.
At least 90 percent of survey respondents will report a high level of
satisfaction with services provided.
Financial Aid Assessment
Plan Statement
Intended Outcome (Student
Learning). Students will
display proficiency in applying for financial aid online.*
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff in the Financial Aid Office will review the
applications for completeness and correctness.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
90 percent of the online applications will be completed correctly.
* The Registrar’s Office,
Admissions and other units might have a similar outcome.
Student Activities
Assessment Plan Statement
Intended Outcome (Student
Learning). Students
serving in the Student Government Association (SGA) will demonstrate effective
time management skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Student Activities staff will use an assessment rubric to
evaluate students’ time management skills when preparing for and participating
in SGA meetings and other activities.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or
higher on a scale of 1-4.
Security
Assessment Plan Statement
Intended Outcome (Student
Learning). Students will
demonstrate marked improvement in adherence to campus parking rules and
regulations.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will compare the number of citations issued for
parking violations in 2007-08 to the number issued in 2006-07.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. Citations
for parking violations will decrease by at least 25 percent from the previous
year.
Library
Services Assessment Plan Statement
Intended
Outcome (Student Learning). Students will display proficiency in basic
library research/report development skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Activities. Sophomore
students will complete at least one major research report in regularly
scheduled coursework. Faculty in various
disciplines will select an assessment rubric,
with assistance from library staff, to evaluate students’ library research/report
development skills. Faculty will forward
reports of assessment findings to the Director of Library Services.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
80 percent of students will display proficiency (meets or exceeds proficiency)
in each performance category.
Housing and
Residence Life Assessment Plan Statement
Intended
Outcome (Student
Learning).
Students participating in
residence hall diversity programs will report an enhanced appreciation of
diverse backgrounds, values and perspectives.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Students will complete a
spring opinion survey, which contains several items related to the appreciation
of human differences. Housing and
Residence Life staff will evaluate students’ responses to the items.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. 75% or more of
responding program participants will indicate that the programs did enhance
their appreciation of human differences.
Institutional
Effectiveness Assessment Plan Statement # 1
Intended
Outcome # 1 (Services). The director will provide training for faculty
and staff in the development and implementation of academic and administrative
assessment plans.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Full-time faculty and staff will participate in assessment
workshops at the beginning of the fall semester. Institutional Effectiveness staff will
maintain a roster of workshop participants.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
80 percent of full-time faculty and staff will participate in the workshops.
Institutional
Effectiveness Assessment Plan Statement # 2
Intended
Outcome # 2 (Unit Effectiveness). Faculty and staff will utilize the knowledge
and skills gained in the fall assessment workshops to develop and implement
annual assessment plans for their respective units.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Full-time faculty and staff from academic and
administrative units will complete this process in 2007-08. Plans and related documents will be submitted
to the Institutional Effectiveness Office.
The director will maintain a list of units that have and have not
completed the process.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. At least
75 percent of academic and administrative units will submit required materials.
Registrar’s
Office Assessment Plan Statement
Intended
Outcome (Unit Effectiveness). Registrar’s Office staff will insure that the
information in the catalog on academic policies and procedures, curriculum
requirements and courses of study is accurate and complete.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Focus groups, consisting of office staff, faculty and
students, will review materials for accuracy and completeness.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. No major
errors, misrepresentations or omissions of information will be identified.
Admissions
Office Assessment Plan Statement # 1
Intended
Outcome # 1 (Services). The Director of Admissions will represent the
University at various community events.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will keep track of the community events attended by
the director.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
director will attend a minimum of 25 events during 2007-08.
Admissions
Office Assessment Plan Statement # 2
Intended
Outcome # 2 (Unit Effectiveness). The number of inquiries generated from
community events will increase significantly in 2007-08.*
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will compare the number of inquiries received in
2007-08 to the number received in 2006-07.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. Inquiries
from community events will increase by more than 25 percent over the previous
year.
* A follow-up outcome might focus
on the inquiry to application rate.
Budget Office
Assessment Plan Statement
Intended Outcome (Unit
Effectiveness). Budget
change requests will be processed in a timely manner.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Staff will review appropriate forms/documentation to
determine time taken to process each budget change request.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. Requests
will be processed within two business days of receipt in the Budget Office.
University Advancement
Assessment Plan Statement
Intended
Outcome (Unit Effectiveness). The percentage of alumni participating in the
annual fund will increase significantly by the end of the current fiscal year.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target Activities. Staff
will compare the list of alumni fund participants for the current year to the
list of participants from the previous year.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
alumni participation rate will increase from 21 percent to 25 percent.
Student Affairs
Assessment Plan Statement
Intended Outcome (Student
Learning). Student
workers will exhibit effective collaborative work skills.
Assessment Measures, Techniques, and Target
Activities. Student Affairs staff will use a rubric developed by the
division assessment committee to evaluate students’ performance in selected
work-related activities.
Assessment Criteria/Expected Results. The
average rating of student achievement in each performance category will be 3 or
higher on a scale of 1-4.
