Students will provide at least 70% correct answers to each set of embedded questions.

Philosophy, Theories, Standards, Assessment, Policies, Instruction and Curriculum.

Correct Answers to Embedded Questions

FED 210

Philosophy, Standards, Assessment, Policies, Instruction and Curriculum: at least 70%; Theories: 50%

FED 241

Philosophy, Standards, Assessment, Policies, Instruction and Curriculum: at least 70%;

Theories: 60%

Test results revealed that students had substantial difficulty with educational theories.  This is an area that is critical to students’ success on the PRAXIS II exam and thus, certification in secondary education.  Faculty will continue to stress the importance of educational theories in future classes and will add assignments that require students to use theories in practical situations.

Other

Review questions each year to insure that they continue to cover information provided in lectures, the textbook, and other course materials and activities.

2. Students will display effective classroom observation skills.

Students will complete a clinical experience in FED 210 and FED 241 in which they will observe one or more classroom teachers in action and identify theories, practices, strategies, etc., covered in their coursework.  They will complete observation forms after each session, and will use them to write a formal report.  Faculty will assess students’ observation and interpretation skills with a rubric selected by the department.

Students will achieve an average rating of 3 or higher on a scale of 1-4 in each performance category for observation and interpretation skills.
