Buy a Kronos CD and listen to it (listen to each track at least 10 times before you decide if you like it or not!)

KRONOS quartet is best known for pushing the limits of "quart-ness" They comission a LOT of new music (over 400 pieces!) and some of it is very strange! St. Paul Sunday had Kronos play in the studio in May of 2001 -- the session is achived if you want to listen!

BE WARNED this is not always TONAL music. If you are used to three chords with a happy little 4/4 beat, kronos might scare you (that's ok -- it gets less scarey as one gets familiar with it!)
MORE COMING SOMEDAY! (I don't know what or when, but I'm sure I'll think of something!). . . . in the meantime, here are some quote and factoids (stolen from the Kronos Website)

"I've always wanted the string quartet to be vital, and energetic, and alive, and cool, and not afraid to kick ass and be absoluetly beautiful an ugly if it has to be. But it has to be expressive of life. To tell the story with grace and humor and depth. And to tell the whole story, if possible."
David Harrington - founder of KRONOS

"Looking back, being in on the creation of how the group developed was an incredible opportunity. There wasn't anyone to tell us what to do. That's a great ffeeling. Nobody knew about us, or cared a hoot about us. We were very free."
- J.J

"How was Knronos back then? They were the same tey are now. But because they had a flair for presentation they were misunderstood. They were just trying to wake up a world that was a little bit asleep."
- Terry Riley (Kronos's favorite composer - his music can be very scarey)

'There was a time when I noticed that ever single review had to do with clothes and haircuts' says Janey Cowperthwaite. 'And the fact is that they were just being the young people that they were. At a certain point we started not to answer those "image" questions any more. And talk about the work itself
