Things have been getting weird at home. I think something supernatural is going on.
It started about a week ago. I went to bed early and my wife came to bed later, as soon as the lights went out (approx 11 pm), I was waken by the dog barking. I got up to check it out, because the dog only barks if there is someone outside the house. Sometimes that includes the paper carrier.
I didn't see anything at first when I looked out the window, but after a minute, I saw a cat. It looked quite uncanny like my own cat (a fat maine coon, we named furby because of the uncanny resemblance to the A.I. toy). I freaked, because we don't let the animals outside much. We live near the highway, so it is a bad idea to let the cats roam. I turned on the lights and there were the cats just staring at me. Of course at that time of night, the cats looked like they had seen a ghost.
I figured it was a stray and proceeded to go to bed. The only problem is that it wasn't close to being 11 pm, but rather 1:00! Or maybe I just wasn't adjusting my eyes too well.
I didn't think nothing of it, until a couple of days ago, the alarm went off. I did think it was sort of odd that the usual morning show was not on (I listen to mancow...) Anyway, I got up and took the dog for a walk and then took my shower and got around as usual. When it was finally time to go to work, something was wrong. I needed gas, and the gas station we live nearby, was not open yet. Also, it was still dark! I had been waken an hour early!!! Here's the problem. The way to change the alarm clock is to press a button while turning a switch to the clock setting. This requires two hands. After that, you have to press the hour button once, then move the switch back to the radio alarm setting. The idea that this sequence could be done by the cats or dog is impossible!
The next night I had a dream. In the dream the room is very bright white (almost a washout with light) with a large window. Along the wall to the left of the window I see 4 spiders side by side. They were very large and shaped and colored like black widows. On the wall above the left 2 spiders appeared this message: 'SETI has been unsuccessful in receiving messages from space. The only time they will be successful, is in a message that they will receive from an extraterrestrial transmission at a station in the LA/SF area.'
Hey, I don't put much stock into SETI. I sometimes wonder if they have any interest in actually finding ET signals, because this world is more about money than anything else. I don't even know if SETI has a listening station in that area!
Maybe all of this is coincidence or something, but it could also be something else. I put all of it here, because that's a good way to keep your head about it. And maybe even have a laugh about it later.
