Blood Of Thy Neighbor

"Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor: I am the LORD." -- Leviticus 19:16

Reference Texts:
"Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness." -- Exodus 23:1

"Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked." -- Exodus 23:7

"And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died. -- I Kings 21:13

"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies and he that soweth discord among brethren." -- Proverb 6:16-19

What does this mean precisely? Who is following this today? And who is not? How may we mark those who ignore this text and how should they be treated?

  1. What this means is that instead of just saying we don't know everything there is to know, we should actually ACT like it!
  2. This also prohibits all manner of evil speaking, or agreeing to bring harm to others, or raising slanders against them in order to increase one's fame, wealth or ego.
  3. These are also more laws that were broken with the illegal trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
  4. Virtually no one is following this today. If they are, they are presently hiding. There are a few...
  5. How they should be treated is spoken in Galatians, but to bring to their attention their behavior is wrong would be the first step. When they continue to refuse to obey God, leave them, for the Bible promises that "The backslider in heart shall be filled with the fruit of his own ways." Amazing how many today feel they can cheat God as well as their brothers, be dishonest to the Lord and disobey His commands, then presume upon His forgiveness which in actuality is absolutely nowhere in their future before they repent.
