FIVECOAT ^ MICKEY ^ MILLER ^ AND OTHER RELATED FAMILIES

I will be adding information to this page as rapidly as possible.

FIVECOAT

For some years the origin of the surname was a mystery and some members of the family thought it might be spelled Fifecope. (This theory was supported by a document written by an early county official entering the name incorrectly.)

More recently we have come to believe that Michael came to Virginia from Alsace, /France/Germany, and that the name is a translation of Fünfrock, fün translating to five and frock translating to coat. I was told by a distant cousin that the name on the ship's passenger list (I do not know which ship) was actually written 5coat.

I have information on only two daughters and the name of one sonof Michael and Katherine Elizabeth ? Fivecoat. I am sure that they must have had more children than these three. If you can be of assistance on expanding this line, please contact me at the address given below.
