For over 2500 years the people of what is now called the Marshall Islands have shaped the atolls making up our country just as much as the atoll enviorment has shaped the culture and living conditions of the people. Against the background of atolls scattered in the expanse of the sea, with little land to live on, and even less land suitable for gardening to make a living from, the Marshallese people gained an enormous store of knowledge, skills, social customs and mechanism to survive the pressure the enviorment placed on the people. Today with the onslaught of Western Cultural ideals and social norms, propagated by influence as diverse as the Christian Churches on the one hand and the action packed mindless violent movies available in video parlors on the other, this store of knowledge is being depleted. The old and knowledgeable people are dying and many of the younger generation are too young to realize the value of what is being lost with an ever increasing speed.
Yokwe, my name is Lowell Alik and I come from a lovely place called, the Marshall Islands. At the mean time I'm living in the state of Oregon. The Lord has blessed me with a great family and thank him for that.
Someday I want to go back to my Country (RMI) to become one of the leaders in Nitijela. I'm very active with the community here in Tigard, Oregon and I know I'm making an effort. If I was ever elected to be a part of Nitijela I'd work so hard for my people and my nation.
Oh, don't forget the important part of me, my atolls. I'm from; Wotje, Jaluit, Ebon, Mili and Pohnpei. God bless us Marshallese and our Country (RMI)!

The main purpose of this website, was made for lost family members and friends whom I have not heard from and seen for a long time to know that life is still great and I am still the same Proud to be Marshallese Guy.
