The Eternal Darkness  by WrriorBard

And she dreamed.

She was in a place. The name does not matter. It was just a place. A beautiful, happy place. She was there with a friend. A very good friend.

They were dancing, dancing through the wind. She felt ripples in the air, clouds, as she soared by. She loved it. She was in a place that she never wanted to leave.

She turned toward her friend. He was her. She was he. They were one. And that seemed natural. She knew that was the way it was meant to be.

But her friend didnŐt seem to be sharing her elation. No, he looked a little nervous, even worried. It was then that she realized that they were waiting for someone.

Who? She thought, and then heard her friend in her mind.

DonŐt ask that question. It is not something you wish to know.

He was able to read her mind, but whenever she tried to read his, she always wound up back in hers. It was awfully confusing.

She looked ahead. There was a dark gray cloud, different from the others not only in color and the fact that it seemed to be rapidly expanding, but in feeling. This cloud was evil. It frightened her, terrified her, and yet, in a way, it seemed familiar. Her friend seemed to feel the same way.

She felt herself and her friend drifting toward the cloud.

No, she thought, I mustnŐt go! But she knew she must. It was inevitable. As they got closer, she realized what this thing was. It was like her. And her friend.

NO! She screamed out in her mind, but she knew it was hopeless. This was the one thing she couldnŐt run from.

The dark cloud swallowed them up...

...and they were complete.
