DARK BEAUTY by Elora le Fay
(Art by Elora le Fay)
It looks like joy
we say
looking at the rain
cold, desolate, snowflakes
never twice the same
warm out hearts
we cut our hands
and smile
at the beauty of blood.
Beauty is everywhere
but not only in flowers
in sunsets and laughing children
Not only in life
Turn your eyes to
the night's icy skies
A strange life
arises in the soul
washing away reality
Beauty is here.
In an age when finding beauty
is limited to soft reflections of pretty
the ones who find beauty
in the dolorous and feared
are labeled the Morose Freaks.
What is this dogma
which prohibits
awe of the obscure?
We just cannot
choose what we are
Seduced by.
But I never
quite resented this.
