Solitary Litha (Midsummer) Ritual

Preparations

For decorations, a cauldron filled with water in front of your altar and a branch of Heather beside your altar. Your regular altar tools.

Ritual

Cast the circle and use these invocations.

"O Great one. Power of the Sun. I invoke thee in thine ancient names; Michel, Balin, Arthur, Lugh, Come again as old into this Thy land. Lift up Thy shining spear of light to protect me. Put to light your powers. Give us fare woodlands and green fields, blossoming orchards and ripening corn. Bring me to stand upon Thy hill of vision and show me the path to your lovely realms.

Make an invoking Pentacle above the altar with your wand. Raise both hands up high, then plunge the wand into the water. Hold the wand up and say:

"The spear to the cauldron, the lance to the grail, spirit to flesh, man to woman, sun to earth."

Place the wand on the alter and pick up the heather branch. Sprinkle yourself with water from the cauldron using the branch and say:

"Thus do I dance before the cauldron of Cerridwen, the Goddess brings blessed with the touch of this consecrated water. Even as the Sun, The Lord of life, arises in His strength in the sign of the Water of Life!"

"Let the Midsummer Fires Shine Forth!"

Place the Altar candles in the center of the circle four feet apart along the east and west parts.

Pass between the candles. Replace them to the altar.

Close the circle. Serve Rye bread and soft mead for the simple feast.
