In case any of you are not familar with Selena and her life story, I will put in a brief story so you will all know Selena and how she made a difference in all of our lives. Selena Quintanilla Perez was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was the daughter of Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla. Abraham was a musician back in the 60's and when Selena was 9, he discovered her talent and started a band. This band was called Selena and the Dinos. Selena's brother and sister were also in the band. Abraham opened a Mexican Restaurant and Selena and the Dinos played as entertainment at the restaurant. Papa Gayos (the restaurant) did really well for a while but then went bankrupt. When Selena was older, she was a very famous Tejano singer. When her band needed a new guitarist, they found Chris Perez, who joined the band and later married Selena. Another one of Selena's accomplishments was opening her own boutique selling her designs. Selena then went on to win a grammy. All was going great until Selena's father discovered some suspicious checks and missing records. Selena's fan club manager, Yolanda Saldivar was the suspect yet she denied all of these doings. Then, one Friday, March 31, 1995, Yolanda pulled a gun and shot Selena. Selena died a few hours later. The world is still shocked that they lost such a special person. Thanks for all of your help in making this webpage.
