New Mods 2007

What did I get myself into?

I never did this before

A fiberglass replica of a Plymouth/Dodge 440 six pack hood scoop

Make a template of course, good old carpentry 101...

nice and steady, cut it out, fit it, cut again, grind some more..

looks good so far.

a nice fit, tight to the scoops sides,

grind the hood metal to bare a few inches back on both sides of the hood, then I epoxy primered it,

next, I used a marine gel type of epoxy adhesive and epoxied it into postion and let it dry for a few days .

a little Duraglass Bondo line around the scoops edges, then some Rage Gold bondo, some sanding and feathering,

sand everything out, donor hood and all with 250 grit paper...

Wash it down , dry it, then use wax and grease remover

now for some Sherwin Williams primer, 3 coats and more sanding down to 400 grit

I used a HVLP paintgun and Sherwin Williams base coat polyurethane,

4/5 coats in all

next up, the Sherwin Williams Clear coat, 4 coats in all.

that is the tuff part in a makeshift outdoors paint booth

It needs a little fine (1500/2000g) wet sanding, then some compounding,

then finally a nice polish to buff it to a show finish/shine

it's on......

next - to fab a functional ram air setup directly to the throttle body

how's that for a do it yourself mod!
