Fašiangy is the merriest time of the year. Actually, it's traditional Old-Slav and Old-German (Fasching) merry-making and colourfull celebration of welcoming springs's sun, which is here again after a long chill and dark winter.
These days are hereby the last days before pre-Eastern Lenten season (The Great Fast). Unfortunatelly,
old tradition carnevals are held today in just some few villages and regions
(Orava, Liptov, Kysuce, Spis) of Slovakia. Men there are often dressed as women (pregnant or children puppets carrying), traditional
masks are goat, Capricorn and horse hereby. However traditions restore again, during
Fasiangy carnival people are cheering and dancing on the streets of bigger Slovak towns.
Some children scared are cryingto laugh again when nexr funny fairy-tale characters
are marching toward them. Simply, it's today whole-family entertainment... ;-)
