This is a very complete history of the building and importance of Ft. Union.
BEYOND ORIGINS OF NM FAMILIES
Here you will find information on the founding families of NM. In Beyond OFNMF2 you will find both Vigil, a definite ancestor and Marquez- a very likely ancestor though not yet confirmed. Many of our family surnames are found here and the reading is interesting even though I have not yet verified the link to the Serrano, Martin and Marquez listed here.
A CAMPAIGN IN NEW MEXICO
This is an account of the sights and experienes of a soldier with a battalion enroute to Bents Ft in SE Colorado. Because of the close proximity to Ft Union the experiences would have been very similar. Travel between the two forts was common for suppies, news and other necessities.
