RELIGION: German Baptist. It has not yet been proven that Andrew (Andreas)and Anna (Rama) Kessler are John's parents. Kent and Thelma Kessler wrote thebook "Dr. Dan" about the life of Kent's father Daniel Peck Kessler of Cowen and Weston, Wv. While researching the book, Kent was able to trace our family back to Botetourt Co., Va. to about 1808 when John Kessler bought property there. According to a deed dated 23 Nov 1808, this John Kessler came from Rockbridge County, Va. t o purchase 156 and 73 acres on the waters of the Catawba Creek. This land happens to be located about one mile from the tract purchased by a Jacob Kessler in 1785. At the time, there were several other John Kessler's in that same area. Kent got our John mixed up with another John and it wasn't for several years later that we found out that our John Kessler was actually married to Nancy Waskey and NOT Mary McCray as we first thought. According to VA Deed book 9: 545, John had property in Rockbridge County, Va. The Chancery Suit: Crowder vs. Hamilton,16 March 1866, Botetourt Co., Va., clearly lists all the children of John Kessler and their spouses. (copy in possession of Karen Cottrill). From the Mortality Sche dule we see John's widow, Nancy, reported the death of John was in Feb 1850 at the age of 75 years, caused by old age, and was bornin Penna. This would make him born in 1775. John, the son of Andreas and Anna,was born 24 May 1772. This is i n dispute.
