NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS MOVED. My old MYST/RIVEN fansite is now here: http://sepdet.istad.org/myst.
Exception: "MYST: The Stranger's Journal" is posted here:
Ten years ago I created this hand-illustrated, handwritten MYST journal, a book kept by the Stranger as he/she unravels the mystery of MYST island, and learns Atrus' secrets. Please visit!
Now back to the rest of my old (obsolete) page

The above is facetiously entitled "Atrus' and Katran's summer home", although alas I have not Cyan's skill in 3D design.
RIVEN, MYST, and
Myst has been a longtime obsession, but recently I've found people with which to share it. Too many wonderful people! I've written a few short stories, poems, and a bit of humor inspired by the magical world the Millers brothers, RAWA , and all the other wonderful people at Cyan have brought to life for us.

Fiction, Poetry, and Stories
- Requiem for Rivenguild in memory of a great community
- The Myst Journals The Stranger's own account of her first adventure on Myst.
- Katran Speaks: The Knife and the Pen a Catherine poem
- Improvisational Correspondences: A literary experiment, stream of thought posted to a bulletin board with no idea where I'd end up when I started writing.
- Stitching Time: Anna waits A short fragment showing the end of the Book of Atrus novel from Anna's perspective.
- Eulogy for MYST Island: Japanese form of poetry matches the spareness of MYST.

- Healing Waters short story. Catherine gives Atrus a birthday present. Come to think of it, this was really the first of my "stitching time" pieces, meant to explain what happened between the game of RIVEN and the Book of D'ni.
- Grains of Water, Drops of Sand (New 11/12) : An Everdunes story. My reconstruction of the events alluded to in one of Atrus' journals in MYST. (work in progress) A rare glimpse of Sirrus & Achenar as children, and Anna as storyteller.
- (new 8/27) The Ages of Gehn: A Broken Promise Kept A short story written over the space of six hours. Yeesha, now a young girl, stumbles on her family's legacy.
- (new 9/23)Stitching Time II: Atrus Writes Another short fragment showing the aftermath of MYST from the player's perspective.
- (new 9/23) Stitching Time III: Return to D'ni A short story bridging the gap between RIVEN and EXILE, again from the player's perspective.
- (11/5) Stitching Time IV: The Perfect Place: A disturbing vignette about what might happen if you lose the game of Exile (spoilers apply). Yet another 5AM stream-of-consciousness which came out almost word for word as it is now.
- Perril's Tale:Princess of Birds FINISHED AT LAST! One of Marrim's students breaks the rules of the Art.
- Circular Reasoning: a dialogue Catherine and Marrim discuss an amazing concept suggested by Catherine's notes at the end of the Book of D'ni
- Eulogy for St. Katran the first M/R/D piece I ever wrote.

Excerpt from personal journal (my epilogue to Riven):
"For a moment as the ground gave way beneath me in
Riven's final death throes, I was filled with blind fear, and a stab of rage and betrayal that Atrus had
abandoned his most erstwhile ally. But as I fell into that black expanse of stars, felt its soft emptiness
enveloping me, I understood his intentions. By stepping into the Star Fissure and following the path of
the book Atrus had dropped into it so many years ago, I was completing a cycle, returning to the
beginning of my journey. And so I found myself home, with mixed regret and wonder at the worlds I
had witnessed, the doors which I had seen opened and closed. Atrus had tried to give me back my life
in the world from which I had accidentally been plucked. But he could not. He underestimated his
power to change the minds of others forever with words and worlds. I cannot stay here now, feet
forever stuck on a single page. He could send me home, but he could not shut the door. Now once
more I reach for the battered Myst book, but this time in knowledge, not ignorance. There is no safe
way back to Riven and the Star Fissure's gateway to my own world. So this time I know the Myst book
is a one way door: I am leaving my birthplace forever, choosing the path of the D'ni."
