MINNIE CREGER, A GRAND LADY

Minnie Creger, affectionately known by her many friends as “Our Pink Lady” was born in Saguache to Johnny and Drucilla O’Neil and lived in the same house (across the street west of the Methodist Church most of her life — 95 years or is it 96? as some of her friends say.

One dear friend, Fannie Rees of Santa Barbara, California says Minnie was ushered into this world by her, uncle, Dr. J. W. Rambo. Fannie was 91 years old May 17th and Minnie is five years older and her birthdate is May 11.

Minnie enjoys good health. She has her own remedies for her ailments, she says and has a wonderful faith for keeping well.

She loves life and her family and friends as well as playing the piano. Pink is her color and she likes to wear big hats.  She gave piano lessons and played for silent movies at the theatre for many years. She’s a favorite in our community and keeps cheerful.

Her husband Arthur Creger was a barber by trade. After his death Minnie made her home with her sister Etta Tarbell Bennett or her daughter Mrs. Oleg (Evelyn) Dilley and her husband — we call him Jim.

Minnie was one of three daughters born to Johnny and Drucilla O’Neil. Johnny was a jockey and the rider of Red Buck in the famous Red Buck - Casino Race!

(This article was written for the Crescent when Minnie celebrated her 95th birthday and I don’t recall when that was)!
