Hal Sparks Video links are now up from Hal Sparks' appearance on TechTV. Check out Hal's website to hear the results of what he learned about looping one of his own songs... "She Waits" will play for you once the page is loaded.

Hal Sparks and Jennifer Elise Cox are the Guest Hosts for an encore performance of the episode of Rendez-View entitled "Belgian Boy Toy" airing on August 1. The show takes place in China Town, at the Spearmint Rhino Strip Club.

Robert GantSafeSearching.com presents Robert Gant's Official Web site. Be sure to check out the Media section for some great photos, and drop Robert a line on the Contact page. Some areas are still under construction, but we did come across a few interesting tidbits.

In addition to the Advocate cover article we mentioned below, look for Robert to appear in Florida International Magazine (June 2002), Paper magazine (July 2002) and Redline magazine.

AIDS Walk Colorado Scott Lowell and Robert Gant will be joined by Brandon Quinton, former "Survivor: Africa" contestant and John Carroll, former "Survivor: Marquesas" contestant at this year's AIDS Walk Colorado. The four men will serve as Grand Marshals, lending their time and talents to "Take the Step" at the 15th Anniversary AIDS Walk Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Cheesman Park in Denver.

"We're honored to have the support of those who are not only known for their acting talents and dynamic personalities, but for their compassion and dedication to fighting HIV/AIDS and raising awareness about the disease," said Donnie Luehring, AIDS Walk Manager.

Gerald McRaney Thea Gill is currently working in Winnipeg, Manitoba, shooting a 'movie of the week' for PAX TV called "Tornado Watch," in which she plays a reporter named Dee Mazur. Thea's part in this movie is substantial, which is a bonus for her fans! She stars opposite Gerald McRaney, who plays her father, and is best known for his series television roles on "Simon and Simon" and "Major Dad."

PAX TV logo Thea can also be seen on PAX TV later this Fall, when she guest stars in the 2-hour premiere of a new series called "Just Cause." The series is about a determined woman named Alexandra DeMonaco (played by Elizabeth Lackey) who served five years in jail for a crime her husband committed. She spends the time earning a law degree, and when she is released, she begins working as a paralegal for the ambitious and attractive attorney Hamilton Whitney (played by Richard Thomas), trying to find justice for herself and others who have been abandoned by the system. In the first episode, Thea will play Sally Stern, a grieving widow with two children. Jacqueline Zambrano and Gail Morgan Hickman are the Executive Producers.

"Just Cause" premieres with a two-hour movie on Sunday, September 15 (9:00 - 11:00 PM, ET/PT) before moving to its regular Tuesday at 9:00 PM, ET/PT, timeslot beginning September 17.

What's in a name? Interesting coincidences above...
"PAX" is short for Paxson Communications Corporation (which owns PAX TV), and Bill Paxson starred in the movie "Twister" as a tornado watcher. One of the Executive Producers for "Just Cause" is named Gail Morgan Hickman ... the middle name of Gale Harold (Thea's co-star on QAF) is also Morgan.

Press-ing their luck...
Even after a busy month of press coverage this Summer (July's 'Pride' being one of the main spotlights) both Thea Gill and Michelle Clunie still have some significant features lined up for the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for news online and on the newsstands (Canada and the U.S.). Michelle will appear on the cover of the August issue of Girlfriends Magazine, and both Thea and Michelle will appear in the September edition of Lesbian News online. Information on other upcoming profiles will be made available closer to press time.

FringeNYC logo Fans of Randy Harrison will be happy to hear that he will be appearing in yet another off-Broadway production this hiatus, having made his NYC stage debut in A Letter from Ethel Kennedy earlier this year. According to an article at Playbill.com, the play is called "Deviant," and is being presented by The Kiva Company at the New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) which runs from August 9th to 25th.

The role sounds like a bit of a departure for our "Sunshine," however, as we are invited to "Enter the outlaw world of rebel erotica, where sexual misfits are free to roam the landscape of their most secret fantasies." Randy will be playing a self-proclaimed "pervert" searching to understand his fetishism. The play is written by Sophie Rand and Directed by Melissa Boswell and Jane Steinberg. It runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes. "Inspired by actual phone sex conversations, Deviant will dare you to be aroused."

More about the Festival:

Robert Gant Robert Gant talks to Bruce Steele in the new issue of The Advocate. It's a case of life imitating art, given that his character "Ben" gave an honest, forthright and revealing interview to the magazine when he first came out as a gay man.

Gale HaroldRemember the Advocate interview with Gale Harold that was published earlier this year? Well, the Gale Harold Fan Site obtained an exclusive from author Michael Rowe: the original extended transcript of their conversation together (before it was edited for content and length). Read the details that didn't make it to print back in February here.

Emmy Statue Two mentions, two weeks in a row!

I'm talking about QAF and Soap Opera Weekly. Seems the prime-time drama has caught the eye of this soap magazine.

In the July 16th issue, SOW magazine's editors give their picks for who SHOULD win and who WILL win at the 54th Annual Prime-time Emmy Awards. Official nominations will be announced on July 18, and the NBC Telecast of the Awards is scheduled for September 22.

See if you agree with their QAF choices below!

Lead Actor
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Gale Harold (Brian, Queer as Folk) -- Justin's gay-bashing sparked a ferocious performance from Harold, who made an otherwise loathsome character downright loveable.

Supporting Actor
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Peter Paige (Emmet, Queer as Folk) -- As an Internet Porn star who fell for an elderly secret admirer, then realized he had the hots for his best pal, Paige made each transition alternately hilarious and heartbreaking.

Drama Series
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Queer as Folk -- The powerful season opener put aside the out-there antics and dug deep into the emotions of these eccentric but very real characters -- setting a winning tone for the rest of the season.

If you want to cast your vote, go to the Soap Operas page and scroll down until you see As Seen In Soap Opera Weekly and click on the link to tell them who you think should win the Emmy.

Also featured in the July 16th issue's "Comments from the peanut gallery":
Queer As Coke - "With a lesbian detective and a gay drug lord among its characters, HBO's The Wire looks more like a rival to Showtime's Queer as Folk than a successor to OZ."

Soap Opera Weekly Queer As Folk is featured in next week's issue of Soap Opera Weekly magazine. Read the article Taking the long road to love on Queer as Folk which discusses the Ted/Emmett relationship.

PrideVision TV logo PrideVision TV is the world's first Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) television network to broadcast around the clock. The network is available to customers in Canada who subscribe to Cable and Direct-To-Home satellite companies providing digital TV services, and is considering expansion into the United States, with possible distribution by satellite providers DirecTV and EchoStar.

Check out PrideVision TV at Toronto Pride this past weekend (lots of colourful pics!) and then drop by the Queer As Folk page, which includes a description of the show and program calendar for Summer viewing. Currently, PrideVision is re-broadcasting the first season of QAF. Catch the episodes you missed, or record them for multiple viewings!!! There's also a page for fans of QAF-UK (the British series that started it all). That series, which has been shown several times since it's original airing, will begin again on July 13 with the premiere episode... definitely worth a peek if you've never seen it before! The series stars the irreverant Aidan Gillen, the adorable Craig Kelly and the absolutely scrumptious Charlie Hunnam (in my humble opinion, of course! ).

Mews Restaurant With barely a week to recover from the fabulous Pride festivities in NYC, Peter Paige (otherwise known as Emmett's portrayer) finds himself heading to the Cape for a cause near and dear to his heart. Peter will be appearing in Provincetown, MA this weekend (July 5 and 6) to support the Provincetown Repertory Theatre. Attend a performance of "Peter Paige's Point of View" on Friday night, and take part in a question and answer period following the show. On Saturday morning, attend a brunch at the acclaimed Mews Restaurant. See the Appearances page for more details on the events and ticket reservations.
