We are all sad to hear about it !!! Read the official statement about the actual status of
Jasta 5

Flandres, Western Front, January 22, 1918:
Salute all fellow front-pilots: Well, Jasta 5 is very sad to inform you all that
we decided to disband.
We are not longer part of the German Luftstreitkraefte.
This decision was damn hard for us and we regret it very much ! The reasons
for J5 to disband are different and would be too much to explain here, but be sure that
we always enjoyed to fly with and against you guys ;o)

Some of us joined new squads, others retired. A few of us fly as independent
aviators now. Please keep us in your minds and dont forget us, for maybe
someday Jasta 5 will be in the air again !
