Oracle Application Server Release 4.0.8.2.1 - Enterprise Edition - Release
Installation Issues :
OAS doesn't allow you to substitute an explicit IP address in the address line of the browser. It just won't work. You must use an alias via an actual DNS server or the HOSTS file in your Windows directory. For instance, http://191.191.191.191:8888 fails, but if you have webserver1 defined in your HOSTS file as that, then http://webserver1:8888 works.
Issue : Upon the execution of a PL/SQL Package, the browser only shows an empty white screen, not even an error message screen
History - I had GRANTed EXECUTE on the packages to PUBLIC. I can successfully execute the package from SQL Worksheet and get the DBMS_OUTPUT results. It does execute package. I can go into OAS admin and see that the application has gone to a green flag. I don't get an error screen; all I get is a white browser screen.
Solution :
We did finally figure this out, and just in time in regard to my approaching Production deadlines. It has to do with what user owns (grantor of) the public synonyms. Most of our packages are owned by the schema (in this case DE971217). However, I noticed that a couple of the public synonyms for key packages used by OAS were owned by OAS_PUBLIC. I was looking at the all_tab_privs view, and the grantor was OAS_PUBLIC. Once, we dropped all the public synonyms owned by OAS_PUBLIC and replaced them with public synonyms owned by DE971217, the browser started displaying the output.
Dev Note : When using EXCEED's XTerm, be sure and pull the environment
values from your telnet session over by typing,
su - webmaster (where webmaster
is your userid). And yes, the spaces are important.
I am just getting this part of website up regarding OAS.
Please send me anything that you have a interest regarding OAS.
Thanks,
Jason
