Great Day for a Parade

Great weather, a great crowd and a fantastic parade really made it a good day to celebrate Headwaters Day. The Twins Towns came together to celebrate the community on the streets of Breckenridge.

The parade had entries from Wahpeton, Breckenridge, Campbell-Tintah, Herman, Minn., near Moorhead, Minn., and others.

Not only was the weather perfect — sunshine, 65 degrees and little wind — the entertainment during the parade was fun.

There were four bands playing — Campbell-Tintah’s jazz band, Wahpeton and Breckenridge high school bands and the Wahpeton-Breckenridge Community Band. It’s great to know we have a musical community.

There were horses, semis, old time cars, fire trucks, police cars, gymnasts, Boy Scouts and many other entries.

Fifth Street and Minnesota Avenue were packed with spectators and children diving after candy.

The events at Welles Memorial Park were well-attended and the barbecue dinner was delicious, thanks to Hills 210 Cafe & Subs. The Cowboys football team helped serve the meal. The line was huge as the barbecues normally go fast — and they were out by the time 12:30 rolled around.

Parents could bring their children and exhaust them on inflatable games while they looked at crafts and other goods at the park.

All in all, Headwaters Day was a success. In our opinion, it is a great way to continue to not only promote our Twin Towns as one community, but to show how wonderful everyone is. To put on an event like this takes a lot of cooperation and collaboration.

Thank you to all those involved who made this happen!
