With two meets left before subsection competition, the Breckenridge School Speech Team brought home 41 ribbons, nine of them first place blue ribbons, at Herman-Norcross School invitational meet on Thursday.

In competing against students from several other schools, team members collected eight seconds, six thirds, six fourths, five fifths and seven sixths, several awards ending in ties.

Remaining on the schedule for the Breckenridge team is the West Central School invitational at Barrett on Tuesday. The subsection tournament competition begins on March 27 at Campbell-Tintah School followed by the sectional event at Menahga on April 4 for the top six subsection winners. Advertisement

Breckenridge Speech Team ribbon winners were:

Creative Expression: Sami Meyer and Emily Miranowski, tied for first; Blair Lindberg, second and Sarah Fuder, fourth.

Drama: Mercedes Mckibben, second and Heidi Sayler, third.

Discussion: Alexis Olson, Grant Hillestad and Isaac Meyer, all tied for first and Kayla Ekberg, third.

Dramatic Duo: Janna Gilbertson and Shanae Gilbertson and Kim Kressin and Aaron Muller, tied for second; Danae Knapper and Jonathan Mergans and Meggi Island and Jared Zimmerman, tied for sixth.

Extemporaneous Reading: Kjerstin Engebretson, first; Amber Running Bear, second and Michelle Kressin, sixth.

Extemporaneous Speaking: Jerrold Zettel, first; Tommy Peschel, third; Chad Olson, fourth and Ryan Loken, fifth.

Great Speeches: Katherine Tilton and Damian Olson, tied for fourth.

Humorous: Siri Manning, first and Britta Manning, fourth.

Informative Speaking: Jana Leinen, first; Jennifer Marple, second; Alyssa Allen, third and Laura Radig, fifth.

Original Oratory: Emily Tolbert, sixth.

Poetry: Regan Whitney, second; Natalie Wiertzema, fifth and Calvin Kammerer, sixth.

Prose: Alixandra Johnson, second; Stephanie Erlandson and Emily Berndt, tied for third; Katie Chapman, fifth and Jenny Kusler, sixth.

Storytelling: Rachel Hieserich, fourth; Zack Rittenhouse, fifth and Daniel Portales, sixth.
