NEFE High School Financial Planning Program

The National Endowment of Financial Education is an independent, non profit foundation dedicated to the goals of helping all Americans improve thequality of their lives through their acquisition of information and skills that enable and knowledgeable financial decision making.

The NEFE High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP) was created to (1) educate high school students about sound money management skills and the financial planning process. (2) help teens begin to develop positive behaviors that are necessary to attaining financial maturity and achieving a secure future.

It is essential in our fast-moving society to have a working knowledge of the fundementals of basic financial planning and money management. Today's teenagers, more than any previous generation will be required to take more personal responsibility for actively manageing their finances throughout their lives.

Study Island

The Study Island MCA-II (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment Series II) preparation programis designed specifically to help students master the skills and knowledge described in the Minnesota Academic Standards.Study Island focus on the Minnesota Academic Standards enable srudents to improve their preformance in the skill areas tested on the MCA-II (grades 3-8), which leads to improved test scores. Topics consist of questions, answers, explanations, and lessons that address the specific skills from each of the Minnesota Academic Standards.

Study Island enables student to choose their style of learning. Students can work using a standard test format or several interactive games. Printable worksheets are also availabel and are ideal for practicing constructed-respnse questions.

We're pleased to bring you this news about our early reading curriculum.We've teamed up with Headsprout to offer a computer-based reading program to help us provide your child essential skills for reading success.
Headsprout Early Reading is an award-winning, interactive, online reading program that meets the National Reading Panel guideline for instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. The nationally-recognized Flordia Center for Reading said the following about Headsprout Early Reading:

"While having fun working on the computer, students learn that letters and sounds go together to make words, words go together to make sentences, and sentences make stories. They learn to read several common sight words and to read for meaning and enjoyment.
