Visit the Kirkpatricks' web site ~ My Story - My Song
My home on the web has been built to share
my Christian faith, as well as to share
wonderful memories of family, friends and the days of yore, with
lots of fun
to bring smiles and laughter, along with beautiful music on each
page. It is my desire
that my site will honor God and that it will be uplifting and
encouraging.
All my life I have been a big-time saver of
poems, stories and sayings that I loved;
and I always took advantage of every opportunity to express my
creativity and artistic bent.
I never dreamed that one day the computer would come into
my life and that I would
find this means of expression to be a great outlet for so many of
these treasures and memories.
Music, Music, Music
Music has been one of the most important
parts of my life; I could not imagine sharing these pages without
music ! From my
earliest memories, music has been a very big part of me .... from
the hymns and choruses I grew up with at my church, to
becoming a church choir member as a teenager, to singing around
the house with Mother and my sister, to listening to
the radio constantly thanks to Daddy, to the popular and Big Band
music of my youth, to the classical and opera music
that I learned to appreciate and enjoy because of my mother, to
being a part of a trio at my home church and later
at college with two still-close friends, to singing in the
college sextet with still-close friends, to being a part of
the a cappella choir at my college, to the wonderful anthems and
cantatas spanning decades of school and
church choir work and finally to the wonderful contemporary
praise music of today.
"For the common things of every day
God gave man speech in the common way;
For the deeper things men think and feel
God gave the poets to reveal;
For the heights and depths no words can
reach
God gave man music,
the soul's own speech."
When words fail, |
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
~ Matthew 22:37-40
