BBD's Last Bike Project

Below are pictures of the last bike I built from scratch. The frame is an hard-tail multi-frame and would hold any engine up to 1100cc, providing you had the right mountings of course, but I used an old Honda 400/4 engine that I had throwing around in my shed.

The engine was completey stripped down and I sand blasted all the casings, head, etc at work, it was all then thoughly cleaned, checked over and rebuilt.

The forks are standard, but the frame head was raked. It was sprayed a metallic burgundy red and the electrics were sorted out by a friend. It had forward pegs and slash cut pipes, which were cut downs of the originals, I didn't put any baffles in the pipes at first (the sound was awesome!), but after getting a few warnings from the police I relented and quietened it down a bit, it never sounded the same after that!.

The whole project took me 8 months to complete at a cost of around 1200
UK pounds.Sadly I no longer have the bike I had to sell it due to injuring
my lower back (hard-tails really feel the bumps in the road!).

I now ride an 81 Honda CX500B, but plan on getting something bigger (and meaner) in the future, possibly another chop, but not sure if my back would stand it, unless I get a soft-tail. By the way, the chop pictured handled like a dream, infact it even amazed quite a few mates who rode it, even one Harley rider, but not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing as ive never ridden an Harley and so don't know how they handle.

Almost forgot, I have more pictures of the chop showing the various stages of construction, so once I locate them at home i'll get them scanned in and put them on here.

Ive not managed to locate the other pictures of my chop, so below is a picture of my lastest ride which I bought in October 2000. Its a 1997 Yamaha XV535S and only had a totally genuine 738 miles on the clock.

Well after having nothing but trouble with the XV535 and coming off it three times, the last one in December 2001 when a dickhead in a van pulled out in front of me and put me off work for 6 weeks, I decided enough was enough and got rid of it (ive never had so much bad luck with one bike!). Anyway here is a picture of my latest bike, Its a 2001 Yamaha XJR1300SP and goes like a rocket on steroids!. It also came with a scott oiler, mini screen, rack and heated grips, so that saved me a bit of money. I think the only thing that might be changed in the future are the exhausts, I don't believe that a muscle bike should be so quiet!.
