I Will Run. By Sarah Holiday

I Will Run

by: Sarah Holiday

You call me to a safe place,

One filled with love and power.

Your spirit flows from my belly,

And grace pours in a shower.

In love there's no room for fear.

In confidence I seek You.

My mind is filled with good things,

And daily You make me new.

So why not step in the river

That washes me in Your light?

There's no reason to turn away

And continue in the night.

It's the world that holds the keys

To lock me in doubt and fear.

It fills me with selfish thoughts,

And tells me You won't come near.

But mercy makes room for mistakes,

And You can work with anything.

I won't let others hold me back.

I want my spirit to sing.

I don't have to know it all,

Or understand all You do,

But You're calling me to come,

And so I will run to You.

But what do You ask of me

That I may know You more?

How do I die to myself,

And let You in my heart's door?

You have given me Your word

To study and memorize.

You have placed songs in my heart,

And good things before my eyes.

You ask me to remember

The truths You have taught to me,

That I use them in battle

To defeat the enemy.

You tell me to bend my knee,

Yes to pray with the spirit.

To come thankful and with praise,

With your heart and You'll hear it.

You tell me to lose myself

While giving myself away,

So I may then find myself

Living within You today.

I am to live the gospel,

Yes, in everything I do.

You are calling me to come

And so I will run to You.

You are calling me to come,

To be humble and meek.

You are calling me to run

Void of all but Whom I seek.

There is a river of grace.

Only it cleans me within.

My good works are nothing

In the fight against sin.

I am but a helpless tool

Crafted for my Master's hand.

Great things can be made through me,

But not when alone I stand.

You give to me Your power

Through faith of a mustard seed,

But the power is not mine,

For I, too, am in need.

My righteousness is as rags,

So I rejoice in your grace.

I have nothing to give You,

Yet I long to see Your face.

So I fall upon my knees,

And give up all I can do.

You are calling me to come,

And so I will run to You.

And I look at Lord Jesus,

The humble master of all.

You gave up Your human rights

For the sake of Your call.

Past all splendor and fortune,

You look to the hearts of men.

You healed the broken spirit.

And forgave the darkest sin.

Your call was for righteousness.

Sinners, You lift off the floor.

Your eyes speak great depths of love.

You say, "Go and sin no more."

Your followers found safety,

Whether in prison or free.

Their captors couldn't take away

A spirit with hope and peace.

And Lord, You love the children.

And Lord, You love the widow.

The outcast and the broken

Found healing in your shadow.

And Your love enfolds me

In everything we do.

You are calling me to come,

And so I will run to You.

This new life beckons me,

Yet I look with skeptic's eye.

Is God really involved here?

Is it really safe to try?

If I pray, will You answer?

Can I be filled with the spirit?

I want more of Your power.

I don't think I should fear it.

Will I ever be ready

If this is where You've called me?

You won't give me a shotgun

If I am only three.

But I know You have power

To give those who truly seek.

In an age of unseen battle,

This is no time to be weak.

So why not step in the river

That washes me in your light?

There's no reason to turn away

And continue in the night.

I don't have to know it all,

Or understand all you do,

But you're calling me to come,

And so I will run to You.
