Love & Telemarketers

Don't you hate how they call you
They always mispronounce your name
Trying to talk like an old friend
"We don't care," They say.
"You need to buy what we're selling."
"You must have misunderstood us."
But you understand them; They don't care.

You hope they'll overlook you
But when you're afraid you'll forget yourself
One night, before falling asleep,
You might mispronounce your own name Then
You'll know you need them.

Then you'll pray they don't overlook you.
You'll try to love them.
And the way they mispronounce your name.
Greeting you like a friend
You'll buy what they have to sell
Blur the border between them and you.
