"Without Zorro or Guy"

by Kay Long

As I sit here next to my computer,
And think how long I have had it,
Wondering how I got this far,
And learned so many things on it:

The lessons and the knowledge,
I have learned in the past year,
But more important, the friends
That I have made through emails,

The people that I met through
The GWFriendslist and others,
Who shared the same interest as me,
And that is one man - Zorro.

Without the character who was
Born inside the mind of a writer,
Who made him an unforgotten hero,
I wonder where we would be?

Would we ever fall in love
With a fine, handsome actor
Whose name was Guy Williams
As he became Disney's "Zorro."

When the Z flashed across the dark sky,
And began the series in 1957,
The bold, masked Avenger
Came onto the small screen known as television.

With his sword singing through the air,
Fighting the good fight against injustice,
The black-caped actor flashed a smile,
As he went about the studio and stage.

Where would we be if it wasn't for
A fictional character named Zorro,
A producer named Walt Disney,
And a fine actor named Guy Willimas?

But it did happen, and we are here,
Together as one to honor the one
Who made the character as he was,
Guy Williams as the "real" Zorro."
