When Zorro Rides

by William Armstrong

When Zorro rides bad men shake in their boots
The people cheer him on for he is their hero
The commandante plots ways to capture the fox
But the odds of him succeeding are less than zero

Senoritas wonder whose face lies beneath the mask
If they only knew what would they think of him?
Don Diego is the most eligible bachelor in town
But his reputation is as a "fop", a man of tin.

Caballeros sing songs to the senoritas they love
But can the bandit Zorro ever lead a normal life
It is said he would put those he loved in peril
They wonder if he will ever find himself a wife

A sizable reward has been placed upon his head
Surely someone will come forward and turn him in
La Reina de Los Angeles is where it all takes place
The scene is set, its good versus evil once again

When Zorro rides he blends in with the night
Turning back every challenge that he must face
He wonders if his fight against injustice and greed
Will ever end as he seems to vanish without a trace.
